CTBill, funny how you say "the College". I think that is something we should use more often. After all, at Power Memorial Academy which was run by the Irish Christian Brothers as well we often called it "The Academy". I like it. ;-)

Bill Martin, of the Iona track team was a three-time national champion in the 1,000 yard indoor run (1977, 1978, 1979). We also had a national NCAA powerlifting champion back in 1985... So we have had a couple of championships before this one.

So we have had a couple of championships before this one. Interesting, Don't know about the powerlifter, but maybe the indoor track was not an NCAA event back then. Article on ICGaels claims that Korir is first NCAA champion.
