Four teams with 20 or more wins and ALL playing in the PS. Congrats, and good luck to all the MAAC teams.

This has been a good year for the MAAC when you also consider the league went 9 and 1 in bracketbusters. I wonder if our teams will face stiffer competition in next years bracketbusters. I was disappointed that our top 2 or 3 schools didn't face higher rpi mid majors that day.

I know that four teams (Iona is one) have a second round bye and will play in the quarters on Monday or Tuesday. Does anyone know who is playing in the four games of the teams that don't have a second round bye?

Here is the remaining tournament schedule from their website:
SECOND ROUND (March 18-19)
FRIDAY Air Force (16-15) @ Santa Clara (20-14)
SATURDAY Jacksonville (20-11) @ SMU (18-14) Buffalo (19-13) @ Western Michigan (21-12) San Francisco (18-14) @ Hawaii (19-12)
QUARTERFINALS (March 21-22)
East Tennessee State (23-11) vs. TBD Northern Iowa (20-13) vs. TBD Ohio (19-15) vs. TBD Iona (23-11) vs. TBD
SEMIFINALS (March 25)
2011 CIT CHAMPIONSHIP (March 30)
FORMAT: 12 teams will advance with four teams receiving a bye into the quarterfinals, based on seeding. The seeding will be determined using RPI, strength of schedule, conference ranking and geographical location.
The tournament format is similar to that of the old NIT model, which had not pre-set bracket, with the results from the previous round determining the matchups in the next round. Ideally teams can be kept within their geographic region to cut down on travel.

Mr. Doom, thanks. It seems to me that the four teams that got second round byes will be the home team in the quarters. And after that the higher rated team will be the host. Just a guess.

Considering the quick turn around time from the 2nd round game, that would definitely be the most logical scenario. In fact, I saw a comment in one of the Indiana media reports after the game that the winner of the Iona/Valpo game was expected to have home court the rest of the way in the tournament. I don't know whether that's what I expect or just what I hope for. As I said in another thread, in his post game interview of Coach Grasso, Vinny sounded like he expected next game to be on the road.

I think we could have home games if we want them; question is will we pay for them?

I'd love to see Iona vs Air Force Academy.

As to the seeding, it's interesting to note that Air Force (RPI 110) did not get a bye while Northern Iowa (RPI 112) and Ohio (RPI 163) both got byes.

As to the seeding, it's interesting to note that Air Force (RPI 110) did not get a bye while Northern Iowa (RPI 112) and Ohio (RPI 163) both got byes. The bye for Ohio was based on an expected win by Marshall which had the best RPI in the field. My guess is we'll face the winner of the Buffalo-Western Michigan game.
