I just made a mistake that I try to avoid, by listening to Fatso for a couple minutes. His absolute elitism showed through for anyone willing to look behind the words - as with all elitists, he attempts to hide his true feelings behind a vaneer of "looking out for the little guy." He was talking about the NCAA seedings, in particular the selection of the 8 teams for the 4 first round games Tuesday and Wednesday. He was sooooo upset that these were teams from the at large field - teams from larger conferences. His premise was that Tuesday and Wednesday should be reserved for the "little guys". What he means is he wants the auto bids from the 1 bid conferences (the St. Pete's) to own Tuesday and Wednesday, supposedly, so they can have their day in the sun. So what is the effect of Fatso's proposal? 8 teams from smaller conferences would play the first round. That means that 4 of those "little guys" are eliminated before any of the big guys even play. Then, the remaining 4 "little guys" would be playing against the 4 number 1 seeds on either Thursday or Friday with far less rest than their #1 seeded foes. What is the likely effect of Fatso's "looking out for the little guy?" Very likely 8 of the "little guys" would effectively be removed from the possibility of embarrassing any of the big guys in the tournament. Yeah, Fatso was really looking out for the "little guy." Watch out when any elitist (AKA Fatso) says I want to help you little guys. What he really means is - I want to help get you little guys out of the way.

Best way to help the little guys as he put it is to not have f-ing ODU play Butler in the first round, thereby eliminating a serious threat the first f-ing day of the tournament. The NCAA is TERRIFIED of the possiblity of a mid-major winning it all. TERRIFIED.

Could not agree more Guy. Seems really odd since they were a couple of inches away from having a mid-major provide the single most memorable moment in the history of the tournament.

I think it's about time someone on this board came to the defense of Francesa. I'm tired of people calling him fatso and elitist. In this PC world, he is a man suffering from a disorder resulting in obesity. And "elite" must be reserved only for those who are superior either intellectually, socially or economically. I assure you he doesn't fit any of those characterisics.
He's definitely not intellectually superior... he went to St. Johns. Guess that also eliminates social superiority. He does a radio show so I'm guessing he has to work for a living so he's definitely not wealthy.
So stop it already with that disgusting "elitist" tag!!!

I don't think mid-majors (other than St. Mary's) got screwed this season. Overall though I thought the committee did a poor job of seedings/selections. Butler has more name appeal than a run of the mil major like Cincinnati anyway.

one man's elitism is another man's realism.
Mid majors dime a dozen.... I'd say last years Siena team an exception

Fatso's Mike'd up show last night was devoted to the Brackets . As he off-handedly remarked at the beginning , "it was something for us to do til opening day of baseball" . He gave his usual four minutes or so to the Johnnies which I have no problem with . But then in his pontificating about the brackets outcome which he knows so little about , he did not even mention SPC or LIU - even just to the extent to a mention that there are two other local area teams in the tourney . This is a local , not national , show but he is too pompous or stupid to recoginize it . He and his ilk that think they are on a national stage when doing a local show or news are part of the reason local schools have more difficulty recruiting than they all should . I travelled on business a helluva lot when I worked and there a lot of other big cities with lots of pro teams that do a much fairer job in covering their college teams . Just sinful .

If the majors repeatedly take, say, 4 of 5 meetings, then yeah, there's a reason majors are majors and should get preferential treatment. But I'm 100% that the mids would hold their own.

Guy, keep in mind that ichoops is on this Board to provide comic relief and anything he posts about BB is not to be taken seriously. And please don't remind him that a mid-major reached the finals in last year's NCAA tourney, as it could lead to a shock to his system.

I really enjoy posting. The more absurd the better. I really try to post on that fine line where people just may take me seriously enough to respond.
