Are these guys for real? Is their defense really that good, or is it a case where the teams they play can't shoot. How do they compare to Siena last year?
They are pretty delusional on SPC board, I thought I'd give you guys a try.

Very determined group. The 4 seniors can play, and they have an edge to them. They do not look impressive, but they can play. Coach is a good one, and came up with a solid game plan to beat us, after we destroyed them twice during the regular season. Come to play Purdue, or you will going home just like us.

IMO, they are a very good defensive team, and their coach is an up and comer in the BB business. Their PG, Nick Leon, is a so-so ball handler, but he can hit the open three. I would expect Purdue to press them. The off guard, Wes Jenkins is a VG outside shooter, but has been injured much of the year, and has not had a great senior year. But he is a dangerous shooter. When Ryan Bacon is on his game, he's a 6'7 center who can rebound and block shots, but disappears in many games. Conley is a huskey 6'5 PF, who is pretty solid but undersized. As of late their top player has been Jerome Belin, who comes off the bench. He's a 6'6 lefty who can take it to the basket. Pretty athletic. Usually not much of an outside threat, but he killed us in the MAAC finals by hitting three from long range, when he was shooting threes at about 25% for the season. The bench (besides Belin) is not deep, but a kid named Raymond is a good defender and pretty athletic. The Peacocks can play defense, and they usually take 30 seconds off the clock on offense. I'm expecting Purdue to press early and often, and if SPC can't handle the press it could get ugly. They don't have the fire power to come back if they fall behind early. But if they can hang around for a half, it could make for an interesting game. I would think Purdue would be about a 12 point favorite.

Just saw on the St. Peter's Board that Purdue is a 14.5 point favorite.

They're not as good on the offensive side of the ball as the Siena team you played last year, and that Siena team was missing a key contributor. They are better on defense. They are a good defensive team, but I expect Purdue to win by double digits.

They don't handle pressure well; IMO, Iona didn't pressure them nearly enough in the conference championship, if Purdue presses them throughout the game and is somewhat efficient on offense I think the game is a laugher. If Purdue doesn't crack 27pts in the 1st half, your in trouble. When the game their in is ugly, they win ugly!

They way to beat SPC is to score 70. The way to lose is to score 50

SPC played over their heads in Bridgeport. And that's not me being bitter--both Iona and Fairfield are better teams, they just didn't win. It happens. That's why they play the games.
Purdue should win by 15-20.

Guy made an excellent point in another thread. It took St. Peter's to the third game to be able to defeat Fairfield or Iona. They did it in the most important of the 3 for each; however, it still took 3. Taking nothing away from the Peacocks, they had great game plans that they executed extremely well (despite their dead spot in 2nd half against Fairfield). They deserve their victory and the NCAA - however, they will not have a one out of three to rely on against Purdue. I am wishing St. Pete's the very best and will be rooting for them - I will be very surprised if they get the win.

I stand by my previous statremnt St Pete will not score 50 points, they will not be allowed to hang all over Purdue. Final score Purdue wins 80-49.

I agree with most others. I like St. Peters and think they played a hell of a tournament, but the only variable is this game is how well Purdue plays. If Purdue comes to play and plays well this game is a blowout. St. Peters just doesn't have the guns to keep up.

Don't think Purdue has seen the kind of defense SPC can throw at them. The defense played in the Big 10 is mostly body defense which could wear on the Peacocks. But I don't think Purdue will be able to handle the agility and speed of the 'cocks. Think it will be a close game.

Let's see here. St. Petes front line will be in foul trouble in the first 10 mins. Its all over after that.
Dunne will slow the game down as much as possible to make it look close.
