Interesting that the Buff News article says the pay for the game is slightly over 30K. That is a big difference from 40-50K, even if it doesn't sound like a lot.
If Iona is fortunate to win tonight, I am curious as to how the semis and finals will play out. Ohio's gone on the road the whole way I think, so they may pony up for the semis if they win at ETSU. And the tourney heads DO seem to consider travel as an issue--and I have to think it's easier to travel to Iona than it is to travel to ETSU, so they may try to get Iona to host the semis and then make Iona travel to SMU/Santa Clara/San Francisco for the final. Note: these are all just COMPLETE guesses on my part, and yes, we need to win tonight first!

Guy - My understanding was the host team has to pay a fee to the tournament for the home game PLUS they have to pay the visiting team's travel costs. Note that Buffalo is traveling by bus to NewRo rather than charter flight. Obviously a charter flight to anywhere will be more expensive than bus. This could (and I emphasize could) account for the difference in costs between $30,000 and $50,000. The $50,000 figure I had seen previously was in regard to Hawaii's costs to have a home game against Portland. As to another home game, the same sources that told me we would not host a 1/4 final game are telling me we won't host a semi-final game. But, as you said, let's hope we need to worry about that around 9:30 tonight. GO GAELS!

Well, I would not be shocked if we didn't host another game after tonight.

Well, I would not be shocked if we didn't host another game after tonight. My guess when it come times for the final, the team that has hosted the most will be given the option to host the final. That would give teams the incentive to host in the earlier rounds.

Latest rumor I've heard is that we'd be on the road for the semis and at home for the finals. Let's hope we can find out whether that comes to pass!

Despite my sources (which have been somewhat less than totally reliable recently) I tend to agree with Guy. However, I think two items will ultimately have to happen for us to host the finals: First - we will need to win the next 2 games - DUH! Secondly - WE WILL NEED TO PACK THE HOUSE TONIGHT WITH A CROWD OF FANS AND STUDENTS WITH THE SAME ENTHUSIASM AS WAS SHOWN IN OUR FINAL HOME GAME AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN BRIDGEPORT! I think even if point 1 is achieved, we will be on the road unless point 2 takes place.
