An opening line has already been established for Saturday's game with East Tennessee State reflecting how tough this game will be - it's a pick-em matchup! Gaels need to come with their "A Game"!

This looks like a good team, tough at home. Beat Dayton at Dayton, Beat Miss. St. Ran into the same problem we did - lost to a team it beat twice in the conference tournament. Have to play very well to beat these guys.

Looking forward to this game. Just from looking at your stats and schedule, we know you guys are GOOD. Certainly better than the Ohio and Furman teams we have played so far. Looking forward to it.

From Brennans write-up... "I know it's a long trip, there are no direct flights and it's going to be a long bus ride," Cluess said.
Is this accurate? Johnson City is over 650 miles from New Rochelle. That's at least 11 hours on a bus!
Please tell me they're not taking a bus for the entire trip, there's gotta be someplace somewhat close to fly into, no?
HUGE handicap if they're on a bus that long... they'd have to leave tomorrow.
Bet the house on ETSU if this is the case!

There is a regional airport 15 miles from campus that our team flies out of all the time. Most teams that fly in connect in Charlotte or Atlanta and then land at TRI. Weird.

Cjb, think you missed the boat, I mean the plane, on this one. TC meant that where the plane flies into will be a distance from the school. And just because there is an airport, 15 miles away, doesn't mean that the flight from NY lands at that airport. We WON'T be busing from NY. JMO.

We need a big game from our inside game. The Gaels area good road team with a style different fr most other teams. Does anyone know if Iona will be getting some form of compensation for getting to the 4th round.I realize this tournament has limited revenue. At 30-40k to host each game & 30 games or so in this tourney. Will some $$ go back to the teams?

Agree with IC59, no way Cluess meant they're bussing from NY.
I don't believe the schools get anything back for advancing. Perhaps they get something for the finals, because that will be on TV (Fox College Sports).

IC Hoops is correct, team is taking a charter flight tomorrow. I am not sure, but suspect, they will be flying directly into and out of the regional airport that etsufan1 mentioned. To fly by commercial would have meant that they had to do the connecting thing that he cited.
BTW, the line has already moved to Iona giving 1.5.

This discussion about the regional airport near Johnson City caused me to do a little research (yes, I have far too much time on my hands). In an effort to get familiar with our hosts for the weekend, I have a quiz that our guest etsufan1 will undoubtedly be able to answer. Who is the most famous native of Johnson City and most famous graduate of ETSU? Being a country music fan, I can relate to this.

How about Kenny C. and although he did not attend ETSU, Steve Spurrier is a pretty famous native too...

Nice job! And our local high school in Johnson City has its football stadium named after Spurrier.
