Mike F mentioned us in the CIT finals a number of times this afternoon...he talked about our W's on the road at Valpo and East Tennessee St...the sign of a good team...stated he was playing tennis with his kid on Sat P.M. while getting ETSU score updates...mentioned that Coach can get air time anytime he wants...implied he would like to have seen what we would have done at the Dance...that we were the better team, but St. Pete's beat us fair and square...mentioned raising the CIT banner or trophy if we beat Santa Clara...expect him to bring us up a few times in the next few days...air time galore although my sense is that he's definitely more into Coach than he is about the Gaels...but who cares at this point...good publicity is good publicity...I would love for some of you more informed posters to get on the horn and give him the real lowdown on our season. I know I'm a tad ahead on things but on another note the field for the 2011-2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off includes curent NIT semi-finalists Wichita St, Colorado and Alabama, along with NCAA Tourney Purdue and Temple. Maryland as well. If we can win this CIT and with what we have coming back roster-wise (and might add) we should have a pretty good pre-season ranking with a legitimate shot at some of the big boys we've been itching to play on a nuetral floor.

thanks SI. I'll jump ahead as well since you mentioned Puerto Rico....
Is the plan to schedule a 'winnable' game or two before the trip to Puerto Rico, similar to what we did in 2009 before the Old Spice Classic?

A Big East team will be the 8th team in PR. Hasn't been determined which one yet.
The PR tourney is the weekend before Thanksgiving. At most there would be time for one game in there.
I am also of the very firm belief that if you expect to be good, you don't schedule cupcakes. Would be absolutely fine by me if our first game of the season is in PR.

I expect Iona to be VERY VERY good next year. Remember VCU won the CBI last year jump starting them. Now I'm not saying Iona is Final Four bound but you guys will be the solid favorite in the MAAC and have the potential to be a top 50 team.
Good luck against Santa Clara...we need to keep the MAAC heading towards being a very good mid-major league!

If they were all like you, I don't think any of us could hate Siena. Thank goodness for Saintly, soup, Tony, etc. ;D

Yep. Just asking the question. I do agree next years schedule should not any complete RPI killers. That is, with the exception of Siena.

Was watching Sportscenter last night and they had Highlights of game 1 of 3 for the CBI championship. (they mentioned how VCU won this last year) I wonder if they'll show highlights of Wednesday's game as the NIT, and NCAA are dark that night.
