STATEMENT FROM IONA COLLEGE
May 5, 2011
With regard to last week's filing by the Christian Brothers Institute of a petition for reorganization in the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York, Iona College is neither involved in nor affected by this filing, as Iona is a separately incorporated entity.
Furthermore, the Christian Brothers Institute filing will have no impact whatsoever – short- or long-term, on Iona College's economic viability or on the continuity of the high quality of education that is the benchmark of this institution. Our student population and their parents, administration and faculty can have the utmost confidence that Iona College will continue its mission, purpose and identity well into the future.
In the early weeks of May, we celebrate the many accomplishments of our students and graduating seniors. In the coming months, we look forward to welcoming the class of 2015 and moving ahead in our efforts to provide new campus housing, expand our academic curriculums, and prepare men and women to compete in the global economy as productive citizens.
