Ichoops, I'm surprised a high character guy like yourself, didn't see it? Its tough for us high character guys to be in all places at all times. We let guys like you do our dirty work.... LOL

I vote to reserve judgement, and look at the glass as half full.

Is there anything in TC's coaching history that would led you to believe that he looks for "bad people" or do you just worry that that will be the case?

It apears to me that TC is a character builder. I expect all our JC players to graduate with degrees and be fine citizens.

That doesn't mean that he will look for "bad" guys. I think he is trying to find good ball players and good people. The guys who are leaving would not have gotten significant playing time and they saw the hand writing on the wall.

Clearly Cluess/Grasso are elevating the talent and athleticism level of the players in the program - this is a good thing!! I've seen nothing to indicate any of the incoming players are 'low- character' guys.
In fact, I think the incoming class realizes they have a chance to 1) earn a degree from a fine college and 2) be part of what most expect to be one of the better teams in the history of Iona Basketball.

"It didn't go the way I thought it would," Pelcher said. "He just had some strange things to say that I've never heard before."
Maybe something like this?
"We needed better rebounding from you Chris". LOL

"Coaches only look out for their own recruits."
The above quote along with the others mentioned speak volumes as to the mindset of both Chris and his parents. As I had stated earlier, this move did not surprise me and will probably be in the best interest of both Chris and Iona. I wish Chris nothing but the best.

ichoops. . .the best line of the week!
Chris should check his own statistics. . .his minutes per game went up 50% under Cluess compared to his year under Willard.
Hopefully the year off along with some work on his reflexes, quickness and maturity will pay off for Chris.

I liked Pelcher and certainly wish him the best; but I think it's safe to say that he doesn't fit Cluess style of play, and doubt he would have been recruited by this staff. I tend to think he'll be more productive at New Hampshire.
