It was a FANTASTIC tourney for the Gaels. In a double elimination tournament, they lose their first game, and then go on a six game winning streak and win the tourney. For the second straight year, Sarah Jackson is named the MOP. All she did in the final two games against top seeded FF was to pitch both games (total of 14 innings), allowing seven hits (I believe), striking out 20 batters. This was against a team that had won 31 games. An amazing feat. The Gaels finished 31-20.

The Lady Gaels draw the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Friday. What a great experience for our Women's Athletic Programs --- Water Polo vs. Stanford, UCI, UCSB and now Softball vs. Oklahoma. Big time programs. Speaks volumes as to the level to which the Iona Athletics Programs are excelling.

Congratulations to the Lady Gaels, that was an outstanding effort! Dropping the first game and then winning the tourney from the loser's bracket, wow! Good luck in the tourney!!!!

Fordham's softball team also made it to the NCAA's and like Iona playing the Sooners at home; their rewarded with playing Penn State at home. Not much respect for Northeast softball I guess!

I've seen Fordham play this year (In a tourney out here) and they are very good. Could be a dangerous team for Penn State.

Gaels played well, had a rough 1st and 6th inning and weren't able to get the bats going. Oklahoma is an excellent team. 7-1 final
