This Friday in Sarasota, FL, Dick Vitale will, for the 6th straight year, host his gala for the V Foundation. The event is sold out with more than 850 attending, including more than 75 D1 coaches. Already, more than $1 million has been raised this year for this event. Iona gets great play at this event which features several videos of Jim, including some time at Iona. If you can, please consider a small donation. Go to www.jimmyv.org and look for the Vitale event.

That foundation does wonderful things, but they miss the boat by not insisting that at least one Jimmy V team (Rutgers, NC State, Iona, Bucknell) be included in the Jimmy V Classic each year.

I agree 100%. I always thought that they should rotate the four schools - even if they give NC State and Rutgers two games to everyone game for Iona and Bucknell it still would be a win-win for everyone.

I have spoken with Nick and Bob Valvano at this event the past 2 years as well as with Vitale. They maintain that ESPN has a major say in the composition of the tournament field.

Super, yes I remember you saying that.
It's too bad $ trumps logic, but that can be said of many things in this world.

I think we have to remember that the idea is to raise funds. If higher ratings translates if to better fundraising then I am OK with not having Iona in the rotation.

I'll try to cozy up to John Saunders with the idea. Anyhow, I'm hoping that some from this group will make a token donation. After all, it was Jim V who dared us to dream and got us to the NCAA first!
