WOW!!Hard to believe after all these years but basketball was probably keeping the school in business. I am surprise how a'lot of these Catholic schools are making ends meet. Power Memorial (1984), St. Nicholas of Tolentine ( 1991) now Rice. Unfortunately St. Raymonds is not far behind.

Drove down Malcolm X Blvd pass 124th and was thinking today probably would have been the first day of classes. Still one of the best looking buildings in the neighborhood, and signs still up!

My understanding is that 5 players from Rice have enrolled at Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx which should strengthen their team.
Iona already had interest in I believe in 6'8" Amadou Sidibe of Hayes however I do not know where it stands today.
Rice closing is a shame and hopefully the kids who were displaced can continue playing at new schools such as Hayes.
