Super, it seems to me that this is just another case of being recruited over, and all coaches do it. It opens up a spot for Mo Mo, but with ten new guys, I'm guessing about three leave next year, as there won't be enough PT for ten stars, but it's not a bad problem to have.

Pretty sure they had a scholarship for MoMo already. The question is do they need another PG.

Can't see him going to UConn either, if the reason he's transferring is to be close to home. Storrs is about 3 hrs from Manhattan. That leaves Hofstra, Seton Hall, and us.

I thought we had no scholarships left, so we couldn't take him even if he was interested? This kid sounds like he thinks Mid Major ball is beneath him anyway.
Also a couple of nights ago I heard on SNY someone from Uconn was looking to transfer to Hofstra, I missed the name.

The UConn kid who was arrested for possession, Combs-McDaniel may transfer to Hofstra. If we got Jones it would be for the 2012-2013 season. We'll have plenty of Schollies.

I thought Jones was looking for a waiver (Family issue) to play right away. Either way I don't see him landing here, I think Joebird's comment is probably accurate

But wouldn't he need a scholarship in 11/12 even though he was sitting out the year? I can't see this happening anyway.
Hate to say it but one of best scenario's is Fields or Jenkins getting hurt and red shirting and than Iona also bringing in stud frosh PG who could share the job the first year and take over completely as a soph.

Joebird, one right and one wrong. Jones, even if not playing, would need a scholarship for this year (the right). The wrong is even if one of our players was hurt they'd still be on scholarship. I'm guessing that, as unlikely as it is, if Jones wants to come, either McGrew or Anarceon, who haven't been announced, wouldn't be coming.

I know that a red shirt would still be on scholarship. I was going off topic and saying that our PG situation could use one of these 2 in 12/13 so a frosh isn't thrown into the fire alone. That being said I don't want to see either kid get hurt but if this did happen it would help the team the following year.
At this point my guess is Gaels are going to recruit a frosh PG and a Juco for 12/13 and let them share the job.

I think his Polee's father had alot to do with his transfer. He started most of the games last year but was rarely on the court in the 2nd half. Lavin has better recruits coming in, not a big loss imo. AS for Jones, I have no idea where ends up. He clashed with Sean Miller at Arizona and the 2 guards they have coming are better than Momo. I dont know if Willard wants the headache, maybe Cluess can steal him? I dont know why Pecor isnt all over this kid

That or he would pay his way for the sit out year.I believe that Rashard James has done that.

Ok so now I'm confused and that's not unusual.
This year we lost two seniors, plus McFadden, Kesic, James, and Pelcher transferred out. That's six spots. We're brining in five completely new guys, Anacreon, Ridely, Gomez, Moikobu, and McGrew. So I guess we're saying that R. James paid his own way during his transfer year of ineligibility and got the sixth scholarship that opened this year? So if no one transferred out, James would've taken one of the two Seniors scholarships, and we would've had one open?
