Tau, I don't really get the point of this piece. I think he's comes to the conclusion that Iona might not be an easy place for Jones to play because the Gaels already have talented guards; which IMO would make going to Iona a courageous choice. But while making that point he takes an opportunity to question MoMo's character during his HS and College career. So he seems kind of all over the place here if you ask me. Not really well written IMO.

He is assuming that MoMo has to play point. MoMo is really an undersized two guard and he has excellent 3-point range. He has really worked on his ball handling skills and can play the point as well.... but he really is an undersized 2.
He has put on muscle since his high school days and he will draw MAAC opponents out to stop the three and he will slash inside for the easy bucket or a dish to Glover or to Smyth for an open three. He will open up the game for everyone. He is not shy and he is confident. He will look to take the clutch shot when the game is on the line.... he is a winner.

MoMo is going to a mid major that has very good guards already. If MoMo can play with Machado, they will be unstoppable. I thought the writing was fine.

Yes, I meant more that I didn't really get his point, or purpose of writing the piece. To me it appears he begins painting an unflattering picture of the young man, then questions why he chose Iona because it won't be easy considering that we have good guards, then closes with if they can mesh Iona will be really good. Seems like he's raising several different themes in a really short piece and not really exploring anyone of them very well. Is he difficult? explain why and reach a conclusion; is he a great talent? explain why and reach a conclusion; etc.

He wasn't looking at in depth analysis.

Iona = Miami Heat? :-) Don't get those MAAC championship rings just yet.

While I don't agree with the Miami Heat comparison, I do agree with the sentiment. At the end of last season, we showed we still have some work to do to "get over the hump" in winning the "big one" - AKA St. Peter's and Santa Clara. However, unlike many other delusional boards, I do think the overall feeling expressed here is that most Iona fans are acutely aware that there is still improvement to be made. The worry that Siena and other fans should be having is that our recognizing our shortcomings means that we are still striving for that improvement. That fact should worry you BIG TIME!

Assuming Mo Mo gets the waiver, we'll just have to refer to Glover, Machado and Jones as the "Triplets", not the Big 3.
