I'd be willing to bet that the folks over at Worldwide Bball are not aware that Ferninand Lewis Alcindor Jr. and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the same person; just a hunch!

Going far afield here on a related topic. The 1990 CHSAA semi-final championships at St Johns included: Christ the King and 3 schools from the Bronx-less than 5 miles apart: Tolentine, Hayes and All Hallows. The 2 games featured: CTK's Khalid Reeves (Arizona) & Derrick Phelps (UNC), Tolentine's Adrian Autry (Syracuse) & Brian Reese (UNC), Hayes's Jamal Mashburn (Kentucky) and All Hallows' Shawnelle Scott (SJU). Hayes and All Hallows, both clear underdogs, won, but there was some unbelievable play, including ice in the veins foul shooting by Autry with one second to go to send his game into overtime.
Hayes later took the championship from All Hallows which had a dreadful shooting stretch in the 4th quarter.

Powers Upset By AL HARVIN Published: March 07, 1990Sign In to E-Mail Print St. Nicholas of Tolentine and Christ the King, two schools ranked among the top 15 in the nation, were both upset last night in overtime in the semifinals of the Catholic High Schools Athletic Association tournament. After losing three times this season to Tolentine, Cardinal Hayes turned the tables on its Bronx rival by ousting the Wildcats, 65-58, in double overtime. The other finalist will be All Hallows, another Bronx school, which eliminated Christ the King, 70-64, in overtime behind a 19-point, 16-rebound performance by the 6-foot-10-inch senior Shawnelle Scott. The doubleheader was played at St. John's Alumni Hall in Queens. Hayes and All Hallows will meet for the title Friday at Fordham University. They have split two meetings this season, each winning at home. Hayes (17-9), which finished in a third-place tie in the premier division of the Archdiocese of New York, received a team-high 26 points from its 6-8 senior Jamal Mashburn. He wore down Tolentine's big man, 6-7 Brian Reese, holding him to 11 points, 12 under his average. Mashburn also had a game-high 12 rebounds. Ads by Google Tolentine (22-4), ranked seventh in the country and first in New York State, had the high scorer in the game, the senior Adrian Autry with 36 points. Autry was 13 for 20 from the field, 5 for 10 from 3-point range and 5 for 5 from the free-throw line. The senior guards for Hayes, Reggie Starr and Hasan Brown, combined for 21 points and were the only other Cardinals in double figures. Starr had 5 of his 11 points in the second overtime. Jamal Jackson, 6-5 senior forward, had 4 of his 8 points in the second extra period. Autry sent the first game into overtime, tying the score at 46-46 on a 3-pointer with 1:20 left to play. He also forced the second overtime, after he was fouled by Mashburn with no time showing on the clock and calmly sank both free throws to tie the score at 52-52. Khalid Reeves, with 24 points, and Derrick Phelps, with 16, were the high scorers for Christ the King (21-4), which is ranked second in the state and 15th in the national ranking. Reeves sent his game into overtime by nailing a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in regulation. All Hallows (19-7) outscored Christ the King (21-4), 8-2, in the overtime.
