Since the reception at MO's is tomorrow night, I'm hoping that there will be a great deal of info in reference to Iona BB in the next couple of days. Whether it's the Staff, recruiting, scheduling, spring workouts or anything BB related, it should be interesting. Or is this just wishful thinking?
Tidbits from last night: *Crowd not terrible, not great. Other than Guy, and JPR, I didn't see anyone from the Board there. But I don't know many of the posters, other than their screen names. So if you were there, speak up. And if you didn't come, you're sixty dollars richer than than I am, this morning. Congrats. *All the Men's coaches were there but only TC spoke. So let's get the bad news out of the way, first. Ben Mockford has left, to St. Francis of Bklyn, I believe. Personally, I think Ben will be a VG guard, but there is just not enough PT, with all the guards on the roster. Our front court is VERY THIN, as Alejo and Keon have undergone recent surgeries. Alejo is due back on October 15th or thereabouts, and I'm not sure about Keon. I think TC is keeping his fingers crossed. When it was suggested that Mike McFadden could use another 10-15 pounds of muscle, TC opined that's easier said than done. *Now for some good news: When asked who he has been most pleasantly surprised with, he said, w/o hesitation, Chris Pelcher. But since there are so many guards on the roster (the team's strength), we will be more of an up tempo team, running and pressing. That's what we were supposed to do, last year, but seemed to slow down as the year went on. On paper, most fans would probably agree with uptempo. I do. *Not much new on the schedule, we're still working on trying to add a home game (it's hard since teams know we have a lot coming back), and a "name" away guarantee game. *Recruiting-Jared Grosso raved about Sean Armand, and can't wait to see him with the team. We're involved with two bigs, and should know by the end of next week. Don't know if he's conident or not.
Have to run off to work to try to make back the $60, but will continue later.

Bozzella mentioned all players & recruits. TC focused on Scott (whom he coached in HS), Alejo, and Kyle. No mention of others or recruits.
I also learned that tournaments are set for the next 4 years. 2010-Cleveland State (Willard really wanted this for some reason--details will be available soon.); 2011-Puerto Rico; 2012-Paradise Jam ; 2013 Old Spice @ Orlando. (At least the venues pick up after this year!) ;D
Thanks for the feedback. It's unfortunate but I am not surprised about Ben Mockford leaving. The playing time was just not there last year. Best of luck to him.
Didn't know that surgeries were happening. I certainly wish Alejo and Keon speedy recoveries.

Glad we got those tournies post 2010. Good competition and good places to visit.
Also read today, the ladies are in the pre-season NIT this year.

I heard much of the same. And of course we weren't going to hear much in the way of recruiting news because coaches aren't allowed to talk about recruit until we have their LOIs. But I have heard from a non-staff source that Jayon James is still in the mix.
Anyway, with Mockford's departure, we do have 2 ships to give now. It was hinted by Cluess that they're looking at a very, very good PG that wouldn't play until 11-12 (not sure if that means prep school or red shirting). And of course we're looking at some bigs.
I did NOT hear Super's report re future tournaments. I am surprised to hear about the Old Spice--I had gotten the feeling the MAAC would send each team there once. Maybe someone from the "rotation" bailed.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.
Thanks for the rundown IC 59......It confirmed my thoughts and posts on Williams....Many wondered why he did not get more playing time, but I suspected that he never fully recovered from his leg injury, and that it gave him problems even with the little time he logged.....He is a true warrior, and I hope that condition can be corrected.......Now more then ever our 2 ships must be big men......
Guy...Can LOI, still or need to be signed?.....and is it possible that the PG you mentioned will be a High School senior this coming season?.... With two ships, and if one is a true power forward who could also give fill in time at Center, the recruiting of James becomes more in line with team concept....Thanks also for rundown.....
LOI can only be signed during the two specific signing periods. Anyone we pickup after signing period would be a verbal (and thus subject to change of mind) until such time as he actually enrolls in school.
Mr. Doom, sorry I forgot that you were also there, last night, but your two 'friends' were missing. Things I forgot earlier. * TC said that he favors scrimmages over exhibitions, so we'll be playing two scrimmages this year. Good for the team, not as good for the fans. But I like his thinking. * Referencing the Women's sked and Staff. We are playing Michigan State this year and next, and one of the games will be at Hynes. Also Jessica Anger has accepted a coaching job at UMBC, which is close to her home in MD. She has been replaced by Thazina Cook.
Can't remember anything else. If I do I'll post it.

Old Spice is a combination of interest and rotation.
