I understand that Jeanie (Morris) Torrigian, the wife of former Iona BB player, Gary Torrigian, and mother of Amy Parise, lost her battle with Leukemia, last night. A very nice lady, I remember her as a young lady as she was the daughter of Jim McDermott's long time secretary, Jean Morris. Her obit will probably be in the Journal News on Thursday. May she RIP.

Jeanne Torigian Neville did in fact pass away yesterday after an incredibly courageous battle over the past many months. Throughout it all, Jeanne remained a wonderful sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend to all who knew, and loved her and were amazed by her will to never give up. My condolences to Tommy, Gary, Amy, Vin and the kids and the entire Morris family for their loss - she will never be forgotten! Wake will be Friday afternoon and Friday evening at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Home in New Rochelle and funeral will be Saturday morning at Holy Family Church. As I write this, I am shedding a tear - not for Jeanne, but for myself who will not be seeing her come next season. Our loss is Jodie's gain - she has her mom back! MAY SHE REST IN PEACE!

Was at the wake, yesterday. It was a mob scene, a fitting tribute to Jeanne. Vin Parise told me that Jeff was there, and say what you want about him, but, imo, he has a heart as big as he is. Very tough on Amy.

Yes, Jeff was one of what seemed to be thousands of people who came to honor and celebrate the life of a truly amazing person. I got to the wake just as Jeff was leaving and got a chance to say hello. Today was one of the most amazing days I have ever seen. The procession from the funeral home to Holy Family totally closed down North Avenue from end to end. I have never seen so many people in Holy Family Church - Jeanne had a STANDING ROOM ONLY SENDOFF! I can't name all the people who attended. Iona was well represented by everyone from our new President to any name you could mention. Pat Lyons was there, Kevin Willard was there and so many more that I can't mention. And, BTW, all flags on the campus were at half-staff the last 2 days in honor of Jeanne. Following the Funeral Mass, Amy and Vinny both spoke - Vinny's eulogy was truly outstanding and tear jerking. The procession to Woodlawn Cemetery was handled to perfection by the New Rochelle Police Department, the Eastchester Police Department, the Westchester County Parkway Police and The N.Y. City Police Department. No traffic was allowed to enter either the Cross County or Bronx River Parkways until the procession had passed. At the cemetery, we were treated to "Danny Boy" by a great Irish tenor and the Iona Bagpippers did themselves proud at both the church and the cemetery. Again, my condolences to Tommy, Amy and Vin and their 2 kids who loved Jeanne like you can't believe, Gary and the entire Morris family! A fabulous person is looking down and smiling at all of us! LOVE YOU JEANNE!
