Hello again. I come with a question to you guys. We just picked up James Anacreon, and noticed that he was committed to you guys for a while. I was just wondering what happened for him to decom you guys?

Shockerhoops, I'd say Anacreon was a victim of bad timing - he hadn't cleared the NCAA Clearinghouse and Arizona's Elite Eight PG, Momo Jones lands at Iona's front door. As a coach with the need of a PG after this year, what choice would you make?

I've read that one, but wondered why he decommitted from Iona. Because that article talks about him being in love with Iona. Now he's coming to play for us. It just seemed odd to have him be so happy with his choice to play for you guys, then switch it up.

No. I'm sure the coaches would've loved to have him, but there weren't any more ships available.

Anacreon is a young man we would have loved to have on our team. But we couldn't hold a spot open when we couldn't be sure he would qualify. I understand he just earned his AA degree, allowing him to play D1.

I've never seen Anacreon play; but knowing how this staff recruits you can bet he's a player with athletic ability, I'm sure he runs well and can jump out of the gym. I just hope he doesn't bite us in the arce in PR.

Today's Post said that Anacreon was about to visit Iona, then just committed to WSU instead. It happens. Fair decision by the kid--WSU is generally a better program in a better league.

Well I talked with James and he said that Iona not having a scholarship for him was false, but didn't expand on what his change of heart was.

The Post article references his Juco coach; he claims after Anacreon was ruled ineligible Iona did not remain in contact with him, with the implication Wichita State jump on him. But as Guy mentioned the same article states he was going to visit Iona today, and Iona was expecting his commitment again. Who knows?

Odd story, but not one worth harping on.

Yeah totally agree GuyF. That was my initial reason for my trek over here, because all the stories seemed to be convoluted. One story would say one thing, the other something different, then like Ghost said, that one story had both sides. I was just trying to find some fact about the situation so I could write up an article on the blog about the change of heart. Very odd indeed.
Cheers to us meeting in the finals at PR.

One thing for sure: You've got one athletic player who put a lot of work in to get to D1.
