Hi everybody! I've been lurking for a while, and as an Iona fan, am glad this place exists. Good job everyone.
Anyway, can we get Iona games back on WVOX or WFAS or some local station? I know Iona has broadcasted the games online for the past few years. I just miss being able to stay updated in the car. I know everything is being marketed towards people who could just listen online with their phone, and I guess they must make their money with their online subscriptions. I just miss being able to get their games on the radio when I'm not home.

Fair points, but my understanding is that the cost of broadcasting on the radio is going through the roof.
Further, soon we'll all be at a point where we CAN just go online in the car and listen to the game.

jamesq, I too miss the radio for the exact same reason you mentioned (car travel). WVOX/WRTN worked really well IMO - probably why it's cost was higher. WFAS had a terribly weak signal that you could only get if you found just the right position (even in Westchester).

Since more and more people have smart phones I'd be more interested in streaming radio over an android or iphone for games.
People should get their asses to home games.

Considering the possibility that the Gaels may have a memorable season, and there may be no NBA; you would think these stations would want to carry these games. In the past, I can't tell you how many times I got in my car in the morning and still had either VOX or FAS tuned in and gave them a listen. Since Iona is gone I haven't had the desire to tune to either of those stations once!

Especially this year, when (reportedly) there will be no post game reception, it would be nice to be able to listen to the radio guys on the way home.

Especially this year, when (reportedly) there will be no post game reception. That stinks. Its the benefit of goal club membership that I enjoy the most.

IC59, I had not heard about the cancellation of postgame receptions. Do you know the rationale behind this?

I would imagine in 5 years all new cars will have internet radio but until then I also miss listening to Iona in the car.
Ghost of Willard raises a very interesting point, if Iona is having a big season and there is no NBA, is it at all possible a New York station may cover some of Iona's games?
I hadn't really thought of the overall impact not having an NBA season may have on Iona basketball. With a big year you will see bigger crowds and more media coverage, there couldn't be a better year for Iona to be good. You may even get a journal news reporter to cover a game!
Like I have said it all starts with a good showing in Puerto rico to get the Iona bandwagon snowball effect.

Hadn't heard that re post-game reception either. Is it moving pre-game, or being scrapped?

They're moving it to the 10:20 mark of the first half.
