Local fans, mark the Jan 3rd Madison Square Garden Doubeheader in your calendar. Louisville @ St. John's 7pm & Iona vs Siena at 9:30pm.
Good game to play at MSG!

As a Siena fan.. I'm glad the game is at MSG ..Siena hasn't play at MSG in about 10 years.

If Siena didn't suck, this would have had a chance to draw well. I still think a few hayseeds will make the trip.

IMO, Siena will be pretty good this season and the game should be an entertaining one. Probably will be a high scoring game and give the MAAC good exposure. Of course it looks like one less home game and that should make Cjb happy.

Siena has a lot of questions and people understandably have their doubts on whether or not Mitch is the right man to get the team back to the top of the MAAC. Siena will need all-MAAC seasons from Rahk Brookins and OD Anosike. And DaVonte Beard will need to make a solid contribution as a frosh. I'd say after Iona/Fairfield the league could be bunched up from 3 to 9.

Per the ‘2011/2012 Schedule’ thread it was mentioned the Jan 3, 2012 MSG Game was vs. Tulane. Is the Tulane game off now?

Hey GuyF, just because Siena is re-building doesn't mean they won't draw well. They have a much larger following than Iona and you know this from attendance and sales records. Make 3 trips in a row to the NCAA tourney and win 2 and you might understand this. Siena brand is still in the minds of fans everywhere, until Mitch destroys it anyways.

I guess Tulane isn't happening, which isn't a bad thing, and it seems no one really knows what the last couple of OOC games are. First at Denver out of nowhere and now no Tulane.
I hate to say it but Siena will have as many fans as Iona here. 1/3 at 9:30 is just a God awful time. 1/2 is a Monday holiday and 1/3 for many will be the first day back to work after a long break. A game at the Garden would be much better on a weekend or when school is in session or any day other than 1/3!

Unless this is Siena giving up their home game at the TUC, then... Zero value of giving up a prime home game to be played at a neutral site and having it still be considered a home game. No disrespect to Siena, but Iona should use MSG to lure BCS and Top 20 opponents... not an opponent that's already committted to play on your home floor. Of course, if I'm a Siena fan I'm totally delighted with this. Blech.

I said you guys would STILL have fans there.

I hate to say it but Siena will have as many fans as Iona here. I'll disagree with this. But if it turns out you're right, it'll be because Iona fans are frighteningly lazy with not enough diehards.
