Hey Cjb, this is 2011...not the 80's when we were the marquee game at the garden. The Siena/Iona game is like a JV contest before the Varsity game.

Unless this is Siena giving up their home game at the TUC, then... Zero value of giving up a prime home game to be played at a neutral site and having it still be considered a home game. No disrespect to Siena, but Iona should use MSG to lure BCS and Top 20 opponents... not an opponent that's already committted to play on your home floor. Of course, if I'm a Siena fan I'm totally delighted with this. Blech. Even though I am 1,000 miles away, I have to agree with cjb on this. There is no upside for Iona to be playing a mid-major at MSG. In fact, in my opinion we are undermining what we are trying to build at Hynes - a strong home court advantage for our program. We need to provide incentives for people to go to Hynes; I think this is an incentive towards the opposite.

Thanks, SLG. In fairness, I should state that there are two exceptions that would lessen (not remove) some of the edge of my resentment of this game venue...
1. Iona was asked by Ensor to do it for the MAAC's benefit.
2. Tulane backing out late in the (scheduling) process put Iona in a position where they had to find a replacement and couldn't - forcing this (IMO bad) result.

GuyF, I read your post perfectly the first time. You said if we didn't suck then maybe this game would draw well.... and I said even though we are rebuilding it would still draw well because we draw the best of any team in the MAAC. It was quite clear, actually. Can't have it both ways buddy.
And easy on the name calling. That seems like it should be beneath the greatest poster in the history of the MAAC, a title that strangely fascinates you. Poor representation of the MAAC at best.

I suspect that Cjb's 2nd point could be the most relevant. If Tulane did back out and Iona was unable to come up with a replacement, this could give the "powers that be" the excuse they need to keep the Gaels out of MSG in the future. I emphasize that I have no info - just something to consider.
