Jay Judge asked me to post this message for him.... Brian -- All, As we get closer to Puerto Rico I was hoping to do a roll call of the people who are making the trek down to Puerto Rico. Just wondering when people were coming and where they were staying. Thanks, Jay Judge jjudge@iona.edu914-633-2071

Before you leave for Puerto Rico you may want to make quick calls to your Wireless Provider and also to your Health Insurer so you understand what you are covered for.
In the case of my Wireless Provider Verizon plan they consider Puerto Rico part of the US Mainland so I don’t have to do anything differently as all phone and text messages are covered. Other plans and providers may not treat Puerto Rico the same way so it is best to check beforehand. This summer I neglected to call beforehand for a trip to Quebec and found some “surprises” on my next bill.
I know our politicians promise that we all are going to get “better health care at a lower cost”. . .however as someone who worked in the health field for a long time I can tell you it will never happen. My new health care coverage no longer covers doctor visits in Puerto Rico even if the doctor comes to my hotel. Even for minor health issues I have to go to a hospital emergency room. The good news is that the nearest hospital is located on Ashford Avenue just up a few blocks from the Marriott and the other hotels. The contact information is: El Presby (Ashford Presbyterian Community Hospital) 1451 Ashford Avenue, San Juan Phone (787) 721-2160
It’s always better to be prepared although the odds are that none of us will need these services.

I was just on the phone with Verizon to switch my plan back now that I'm back from Lisbon, and I asked him re PR and he told me same as above. Geez. I just wanna be able to tweet from down there.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending. AS usual, poor planning on my part-my girlfriend is a MAryland alumn. Im a toolbox. Will these games be televised? If not, Guy I will be tuning into your tweets

Good call Old coach. Puerto Rico is "out-of-network" for my medical insurance. So I'll need to see where I stand on that regard.
