Nice find 86... rumors were swirling at Meet the Gaels about a couple of transfers or jucos expected to land... looks like Laury was one of them.

According to Zagoria David Laury has picked Iona over Baylor, Seton Hall, UMass and Southern Miss.
Other sources state he had offers and or interest from from Central Florida, Houston, La Salle, Minnesota, Missouri, Providence, St. Joe's, texas Christian and SJU.
Reports had him being one of the top players at the JUCO showcase in Florida. Here are some observations:
"Laury is a true work horse in the paint. He loves physical play and seeks contact in the post on both ends. He has a big-time motor and is able to draw and score through contact around the basket. Laury understands how to set up and seal defenders on the block. Look for him to have a good year at Garden City."
"David laury 6'8 juco so garden city one of top jucos in country loves to play high major talent"

I remember him as a less physical version of Glover. Guard like skills in a big mans body.

That is a really nice list of schools and I'm glad to see that he's landed with us.
Go Gaels!

I think David could use a little help with his "musical" choices!

So would Laury only be eligible for 1.5 years? Mentioned second half 2013? He mentions playing against Glover. When will he be on campus? Spring?

As far as I can tell, he'll start at Iona, this January, and will be eligible to play nest December, or whenever exams are over for the Fall semester. Should have 2 1/2 years of eligibility.
