scott is god
momo found his game and his role on this incredible team
A side note about glover, it seems his jumping ability is lacking. Aside from the alley-oops he really seems to be struggling with his explosive spring. I noticed when he's flat footed, he seems to not have any real jumping ability and cant elevate to dunk above defenders. Hope its just early season conditioning issues

When Scott went down my heart was in my throat.
I was a bit concerned when we let them back in the game at the end of the first half. We had been up by as many as 14 and went into the half up 3. We just dominated in the second half. We played good defense also. I loved the fact that Trinity got into the game.
People can say what they want about Maryland being weak this year. Fact is be beat an ACC team pretty good and played in the most exciting game of the tourney against Purdue. We're averaging 91 points per game and I think we can play with anyone. Good trip, Gaels. We're damned proud of you all!
Go Gaels!!!

Solid win against an ACC opponent. The only regret is that Gary Williams wasn't at the helm of today's beatdown.
Outstanding performance by Scotty... deserving of all the superlatives Gottlieb was bestowing.
This team is fun to watch and it even looks like the defense is coming around!
Hoping the Boilermakers can win it tonight.
On a side note, I'm having sporadic problems with the pages loading on this site - is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes CJB I am also having the same problem. Ditto to your post Z... cannot say anymore. Do not care how bad or down Maryland is the fact is the Gaels blew out an ACC team by 25+ points. Where does this win rank all time fellas?

You and me both, Cjb. I met him one evening at The Palm in Tysons Corners a number of years back. I brought up the Iona NCAA game and his response was "We're supposed to beat teams of that caliber that badly". I wanted to smack him. A couple of years later, Manhattan pasted the Terps in the NIT. I've been waiting to see him again since then.
maniac, I'd put any mid major win against an ACC team up as a good win, especially since we beat them by 26. In recent history, I'd put it below Iowa State. I'd even rank it below Tim's first win against Richmond last year. The Spiders were a very good team.
Go Gaels!!!

I'd love to know more of the Gael nicknames.....the ones I know, I like......Optimus Prime, Mo Mo and Jet Blue. Anybody have more to share. They should sell shirts that say...."In Guard We Trust"..........deep doesn't even begin to describe this great group we have to root for!

Z , I would put the Louisville (1980) & the North Carolina (2002)wins ahead of this one along with beating ST. Johns in 1979 (ECAC Metro Final, pre Big East for you youngsters) and 1995 (NIT).

maniac, I agree with all of those. Louiville is the tops.
Hopefully we can put those heartbreakers like UVa., Ole Miss, and Syracuse behind us.

Scott Machado is so good right now it is scary. I can't believe how much better he has gotten over the summer and he was already good. There is no question he has to be one of the best 3 point guards in the nation.
Its a sin this team will not have another regular season chance to beat a major. In two games Iona has already greatly improved its Defense and I expect them to continue to improve just like Cluess team last year.
Iona is a top 25 team.

Scott Machado is most certainly one of the best points in the country.
I can't stop myself from thinking that if we had played half the defense we played today against Purdue (and had that half court shot at the end of the first half not gone) the result would have been different. I need to live more in the real world, huh?
This year is the year, joebird, that IC hits the buzzer-beater we've waited for!
Go Gaels!!!

Gottlieb loved Scott. Said he's working his way into a second round pick.
