No question men's hoops (and other sports) are more popular. I'm involved with the Rowing program and there is no way we are more popular than the women's basketball team. We know a thing or two about zero fanfare and support.

I managed the Iona Crew Team from 1966 to 1969 when Vin Ventura was the stroke...back then we had about 10 fans who hung out at the finish line at Orchard Beach...met my wife of 40 years there...we also used to change oarsmen by having our guys climb in and out of the coaching launch which we'd pull up bow first to the shell either on the Sound or the course...never had a guy go overboard...we used to row from Glen Island up to Rye and back at 6:00 A.M....Jim McDermott was the AD and bball coach back then...great memories

I've begun research on what I hope will be a comprehensive project chronicling the history of Iona Crew. I'm looking for as much information as possible!! Don't mean to get off topic. Hoping for a big win tomorrow. I'll be at work during game time unfortunately so I'll be watching on my computer!

Unfortunately I am unable to make it to tonights game, but looking at the ICGaels.com game center Andy Katz will be calling the game along with Sherman for ESPNU, should make for a bit more of an enjoyable broadcast. However if the Gaels bounce back with a big win I could care less who calls the game.
I always tune into the radio broadcast for pre-game, halftime and post game. Our radio guys are by far the best in the MAAC IMO.

Fairly certain that Katz has a say in the BB selection. This would be a good time for one of those buzzsaw performances--and my hunch is we'll get it.

Spread favors Iona by 2 or 2 1/2 depending on who you look at. Go Gaels!

I hope Gary Stanley's play by play is in sync with the telecast, if not I'll just be listening on ICGaels.

Ghost of Willard-I agree. I call him the anti Gus Johnson. he makes the Maac tourney seem so unimportant.
Tonight is an absolute must win game.
Do you realize Iona has been an underdog just twice all season(Purdue and Marshall) and if they win tonight may not be again. I can guarantee you this has never happened before. That is why having 5 losses is very disappointing. Should have no more than 3.

By the way, there is no Goal Club reception and we cannot get tickets through Iona. Guess we're all buying at the box office.
