I guess ESPN3's picture all depends on many factors: Computer, modem, Router, internet connection. For me (& sharkey) the picture is horrible, most others are good. The main point is the friggin Maac tourney should not only be available only on the internet, this should be a bonus not an exclusive! This is friggin ridiculous! And if you have Cablevision and don't have someone give you there Fios password it is not available at all. If you are at a sports bar like Wild wings they won't have it on either. Also is anyone other than the Maac/College basketball nut going to watch these games on the computer, it takes away about 95% of the possible viewing audience. This is a bad move by the maac!

I can't argue with that. I LOVE getting to see more regular season games on espn3 (as well as Iona insider), but for the MAAC tournament it stinks to only be on espn3. As you pointed out, it makes it harder for many MAAC fans to access the games, and almost nobody will stumble across the games, like they would flipping channels with their remote, when the games were on cable.
Is the MAAC tournament exlusive to ESPN3, or will some games also be on Iona Insider and similar services from the other schools?
I am surprised you can get it on Optimum at all, even with the FIOS login. I would have thought ESPN would block it, since they don't have a deal with Dolanvision. Or are you using a mobile internet feed? I can do that on my android phone, (which is on AT&T) since I have FIOS for internet.
I've mentioned this before, but with the MAAC tournament coming up, I wanted to repeat to anyone who doesn't know, that if you have an HDMI output on your computer you can use it to connect to your HD TV and watch the game full size. It looks great, when the connection speed is up to par. Other options, such as connecting wirelessly to a smart TV also exist.
I am surprised I can get it too. I should shut-up as I can see this being blocked soon.
I have many Friends and relatives that are casual Iona fans that usually watch parts of the Maac tourney, I know none of them will go to ESPN3 on their computer. I think a lot of people are going to be searching for these games come Maac tourney weekend and wonder why they are not on. Like I said on an earlier post this is 5 years too soon. Why does the Maac have to be the experiment?
One thing I think it will do is increase attendance, especially on Sunday once every decent fan gets wind that the games aren't on TV.

I agree except about the attendance. I would think that most fans who were not originally planning to make the trip to MAACachussetts, would probably figure out how to get an ESPN3 feed, before changing plans and making the trip.
I have a Logitech Revue, an android device with WIFI which hooks to my 46 inch flat screen. I use Google Chrome on the android to get to WatchESPN. I click on full screen and have a 46" HD Iona game. Every so often, however, flash will crash on the android and I have to start the procedure over. It will be great when ESPN writes an android app for Revue or Google TV.

I agree also. I love the ESPN3 thing too, but I like to record the MAAC tourney and won't be able to do that this year. In 5 years this will all be much easier, but in the meantime maybe they should have stuck with MSG/ ESPN GamePlan.

I forgot about this! I always DVR the games and now only can if we make the championship. Ensor needs someone to sit and tell him all the negatives to this, he only sees the positives.

I hadn't thought of the DVR issue. That is yet another problem. I wonder if the MAAC could archive the games on its website so that fans could watch the games at their convenience or rewatch them.
Is there any technology out there that individuals can use to record webcasts like the ESPN3 games?

I understand there are also utilities that will allow you to save internet video onto your harddriver, although I haven't looked into it. Maybe Widespread Panic could offer us some insight.
