Opposing team fans would love it... come see their team play Iona and then go drinking and gambling with a hotel in the complex. Could also host some decent concerts and shows.
Cuomo went to Fordham... his sister Maria went to iona. The Mara's have ties to both Iona and Fordham and are cousins of the Rooneys. This could be our best and last shot.

Right in line with my posting about a week ago..Ideally located..Several major parkways located within a half a mile. There is plenty of room. The seldom used parkng lot located on Yonkers Ave. side appears large enough for both parking and the convention center. It is within campus range of about a 15 minute easy drive of Iona, Manhattan and Fordham and about a half hour drive from NYC proper. It is time to put petit arguements aside and look to the future with foresight and confidense instead of the doom and gloom attitude that now prevails.

This could be our last viable chance to get something done. We need to get the AD's and the schools presidents to move on this ASAP. We have the connections to make this happen.... the question is, do we have the will?

We play half our games away. People make too big a deal out of this. Do we need some upgrades? Sure.
Do we need an arena to attract players. Obviously not.

The Authority Most coaches will tell you that facilities are at the top of most recruits minds when looking at a school. Not just the gym but training facilities as well. We are restricted from a space and financial standpoint. That is not going to change. If we are going to survive the realignments of the future we need to be able to have comparable facilities to compete. This is a great option to pursue. The MAAC could also hold the tournament there. They would draw far better in Yonkers than Springfield.

''We play half of our games at home''......The Authority...............................Actually for the past few years we have played aprox. 33 per cent of our games at home, and these games are mostly scheduled MAAC games. The few left are nothing to brag about. If you think our court does not and will not affect our progress, you are no longer the AUTHORITY.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

OT, right on. We need improved facilities. No question about it. Our staff, lucky for us, are great recruiters, but with improved facilities results (recruiting) would be off the wall.

Great news that coach Cluess is staying at Iona.
No disrespect meant whatsoever, but one thing the administration ABSOLUTELY needs to do is capitalize on Tim's success and loyalty this time around. Despite enormous amounts of success we've had on the court we haven't been able to convert that to fundraising dollars and expansion of fanbase to the extent required to take the next step as a program.
Now that we know coach Cluess is sticking around we need to push the gas pedal and get moving on fundraising for facilities upgrades.
There is young, fresh leadership in the athletic department to make this happen. Let's make it happen now. We can't turn this into another squandered opportunity. There needs to be high level of urgency, accountability and it needs to be a total team effort from athletic department, academic leadership and us (the fans, donors, alums, etc.).

I also hope that the near miss on losing Cluess spurs greater investment in the program. It’s possible that happens.

While they may not have money to contribute we have many talented students in the marketing and mass communications departments. Let's turn these kids loose with some sort of incentive to push Iona hoops by setting up social media campaigns and creating blogs and videos to get the message out there. While we are not getting daily stories in the Post and Daily News, the growing alternate news and media available online is a way to push the Iona name, bring awareness regarding our program and attract more fans outside the Iona family.

The vitamin water guy said he redid mens and woman's locker rooms for 100,000 do we really not have that to put into the program? Use the money we got for going to the tournament. that's found money that should be used to improve behind the scenes for the students
