The official Iona site has a story on a transfer to the Women's team, Katryna DuPree, a 6'4 center from LaSalle. She'll have to sit out this year, but will have three years eligibility. The roster also shows three other guards but no info. Does anyone know anything about them?

2 of the 3 (not Denver) were recruited under Tony Bozzella. The women's basketball archives contains the press release for them.

balto, thanks. I did go into the archives but couldn't find but two stories. Can you help? Or maybe recap what you read. I'm interested to know if we got a PG.

The archives are broken down by season. It is listed under 12-13. Was posted in January 2013.
At South Shore High School in Brooklyn, Aurellia Cammock played behind a pair of teammates who also earned Division I scholarships early in her career and this season has broken out to the tune of 14.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest this season for the Vikings.
Cammock was named Best Defensive Player of the Rose Classic Senior Divison in 2012 and earned the Best Defensive Player award for the Conrad McRae youth league in 2011. Her AAU team is the New Jersey Demons.
Bozzella on Cammock: "Aurellia is a never give in type player, and is the most tenacious rebounder we have brought into this program since Anna McLean."
Spencer Gray, from Centerville High School in Ohio, made an immediate impact on her squad, earing GWOC Second Team All-Division selection and named a Dabbelt Report Freshman to Watch after posting 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
After missing the bulk of her sophomore season, Gray still earned GWOC Honorable Mention and was named one of the Dabbelt Report's Top 100 Area Players To Watch. Gray earned Second Team All-Division recognition by the GWOC after her junior season when she averaged 3.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Her AAU team is the Dayton Lady Hoopstars
Bozzella on Gray: "Spencer has all the tools you want to see in your point guard. Her quickness and playmaking abilities will enable her to continue the tradition of strong point guard play here at Iona."
Go Gaels!

Does anyone know whether Commack's high school ever completed all the paperwor? At one point there was a news item that the high scool's failure to do the paperwork had jeopardized her scholarship.

balto, great. Thanks.
EP, since we're showing her on our roster, I'm assuming she's "official".

Lady Gaels get a commit from Ashley Murray, a 6-3 forward from Imhotep Institute Charter, Philadelphia PA, according to a Twitter by Bret McCormick, publisher of All-Star Girls Report.

EP, thanks for the info. And while I don't know how good they are, but with the new recruit, 6'3, along with a 6'4 transfer sitting out, we'll have good size, next year.

According to a Twitter report Iona has landed a commitment from 5-5 guard Philecia Atkins out of Memphis, TN. From what I can tell, she's fast with a good handle and a 3-point shot. The Tweet was posted by John Varias, prep school reporter for the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

If the 5'5 guard from Memphis is the real deal, and everyone is still here in '14, imo, we should have our best Women's team ever. Or am I being too Siena like?

I have little info on the new commits. Don't know how they compare with our previous recruiting under Tony and his staff. But I hope you are right, IC59.

Some scouting reports:
Full Court: [Tennessee High School Championships:
Philecia Atkins, 5-5, Overton - Philecia shined in several ways in the first game against Antioch, as she showed her handles off quite a few times in the process of breaking a press or getting to the basket. She isn’t the biggest guard but she definitely makes up for it with her feistiness on both sides of the ball. Her ability to knock down the long ball makes her a great complementary player to someone like Kelsey Briggs.
Full Court: Tennessee State AAU Championship:
Philecia Atkins, 5-4 Guard, Memphis Elite (Memphis Overton) When we last saw Atkins, she was shining at the Tennessee High School State Tournament. This time was no different; there wasn’t a single defender that could consistently stay in front of her. Philecia seemed to make a point out of showing off her handles this weekend and quite frankly she put on a show. My favorite thing about her is her ability to create her own shot, from driving to the basket to shaking the defender and popping a trey. Atkins was active as always on the defensive end, and continued to be aggressive on both sides of the ball.
