So frustrating. I thought the 2012-13 season ended after we lost to ohio state, guess I was wrong.

Some coaches know how to adjust at half time. Some don't

Off the ledge boys, it's a long year. I will say this...more than anything, we will miss Momo's free throws. Someone needs to step up

Accurate post joebird.
Main observations:
1). We had no answer for #2. Wish we would have put Tre on him. 2). We abandoned offensive ball movement in the second half. 3). No offense to Sledge, but I feel Gomez or Britton could have productive with more playing time.
This one hurts because it liked like no one wanted to step up at the end of the game.

More than anyone,it is up to Sean to step up in crunch time. Did not happen.

Ah you guys are overreacting. First game, a lot of new players. We got to know by now this is Cluess's system and if we're up 15pts its like a conventional team being up 8 because of how many possessions we generate. We have to understand this by now. We lost simply because we did't shoot well in the second half. At one point I think we were 6-21 from 3. If this team doesn't shoot well, chances are good we lose. I don't care who we're playing. We've got a lot of nice pieces to work with.
One of the differences between us and Siena fans is that their team looked horrible last night and they are gushing about their future. We played a good mid on the road, lost by four in the first game of the year and we're all jumping off the ledge. One thing I'll say is that we need to finish better at the rim, and I don't mean Laury or Bowman. We missed a fair amount of bunnies from what I saw and Sledge has to work on finishing when he penetrates. All in all not a bad start. It hurts because it was a winnable game. And letting them score the first 11 points of the second half really hurt. I think we missed a bunny or two right in there. Team has a lot of offensive talent. They need to work and get better. Hines and Robinson played a bit, two years ahead of schedule!!!
AJ looked rusty, I don't think he made a shot. If he and Williams and Bowman knock down some threes, teams can't key on Sean.

Ctbill IMO cluess needs to adjust his system to be more under control when we have double digit second half leads. I've seen this movie too many times before.

Very disappointing and another lost by 2 points. Lets try and finish games out cause this is depressing watching these losses.[/quote] I don't know how many of you ever heard or remember the old expression ''Getting the apple'' It was descriptive of one choking on his Adam's Apple...Iona is rapidly developing such a reputation...Hand in hand with that was ''If the shoe fits, wear it....We had their tongues wagging but still found away to blow it...If it is Cluess that gives the half time speech, it is time to find a inspirational replacement....

I wasn't happy with the loss but it was our first game I believe Cleveland State has played several pre season games. In any case we will get better and defense had better show up somewhere down the road or we aren't going anywhere.

Damn, I hate losing. Disappointed. OK, so now that I got that out, don't panic. My first look at this team, and I am very optimistic. There's allot of work to be done and the coaches need to figure out what combinations will work. This team is loaded and will get better. Those criticizing Coach Cluess for end of game coaching - you are wrong. I was right behind bench and the plans he came out with out of the time outs were sound. Turnovers and lack of execution cost us. Not coaching. Coaches can't take those two friggin foul shots for Laury. On the positive side, I disagree with the comment on Poole. His role will be important on this team. Laury has matured, even seemed to be the leader at time. Where last year he always just seemed to be listening out on the court, today he was counseling and coaching. Cluess gravitated toward him to communicate to the team. Isiah Williams looks like a great talent who just has to find his place on the court. Sometimes looked confused, which happens to allot of new players in the Cluess offense. Patience.

Do you know if Gomez was sick/injured ? thought he could have slowed the game down a little when Iona blew the 12 pt lead and was surprised the walk on Williams played before him, though I must admit I thought he played well.

30 more games? Got to adopt the rule of half if we want to keep our sanity. If we have a 20 pt. lead, in your mind you need to tell yourself its a 10 pt. lead, etc. This is the way we are built guys. This is how we play. Forget about Gonzaga of the East. We're UNLV of the East. We play fast, with a lot of possessions. We need to shoot 35% + from 3, otherwise we can lose. That's how we play. Been doing it for four years now.
