Solid win by the Gaels. I had a hard time watching/listening. The IC audio was great, but the video was bad and very choppy (and the sound on the video worse). I don't know if that was due to my computer which is dying (I am awaiting a new one this week) or just a bad feed. Gary and Kevin were about 4 seconds ahead. So. I mostly listened and watched when I could.
I thought we were going to score 120. I hate when the Gaels take their foot off the pedal too soon. But the Staff and the team know what they're doing far better than I do.
Great team effort. Sean is really showing his leadership abilities. A brilliant individual effort by Tre Bowman.
No let down for Marist, boys!
Go Gaels!!!

Awesome win! Now let's just avoid a let down game against the Foxes on Wednesday. My observations from the game:
1. This team has gotten progressively better each game since the start of the season. A very good sign. 2. Awesome performance by Tre, what else can you say really? Biggest thing I like about Tre's milestone games like today and the MAAC final are that when he has monster games it never comes at the expense of the rest of the team playing well, whereas the same couldn't always be said about Momo and some of the others in past years. 3. Defense looked great, which was also helped somewhat by FGCU being ice cold from outside. But make no mistake our defense was rock solid and it showed even on little things like perimeter rotations and traps. 4. Armand continues to show maturity and dimension in his game. This is the third game this year where by driving and penetrating he made opponents respect his inside game and by doing so freed himself up to make more threes. 5. Only negatives I could possibly find from today's game are (A) it would be nice to see us win a nailbiter on the road for once but hey I'm not complaining, (B) wasn't overly impressed with Laury's performance or body language but he did seem to step it up in the final ten minutes of the game, and (C) Mike Poole seriously needs to stop shooting. Re: Laury I have a feeling he was in Cluess' doghouse for most of the game hence the benching for the final stretch of the first half and beginning of the second. 6. Hines continues to show growth and progress game after game. Wish we could say the same about Robinson, but I'm sure it will come in time. 7. Knock off about 1,000 seats from FGCU's arena and that is the model home venue that we should aspire toward. 8. Today's game showed me that it's all about half court efficiency when we're up by 10+ in the final minutes of the game. If we can take 20-25 seconds off the shot clock and knock down a shot at the same time I have no concerns with us preserving leads. Also noticing that Cluess is moving to the half court clock killing set a bit earlier in games than he has in past years. Guess he's learned his lesson from the countless collapses we've had. 9. Isaiah Williams still a bit of a mystery to me. He seems to be getting a bit more comfortable and you can see that he's driving a bit more, but still making dumb mistakes and silly fouls. Hope he improves in time. Still only a few games into his D1 career. 10. Today's win was against an average to above average mid major, but make no mistake we would have beaten a lot of BCS and borderline Top 25 schools with the product we put out on the court today.
Go Gaels!!!

I also just wanted to thank the Gaels for sparing me the pain of watching the Jets!

Barring injuries this will end up being Cluess's best team and unfortunately I think his last, if not St. Chicken then seton hall, who just lost to FDU today, will hire him.

1970, I have to disagree with you completely. Any time you can go on the road and win by 18 points, it is a great win. At least wait until FGCSU plays a few more games before burying them. I thought they had three or four starters back from last year, BUT I realize they have a new coach, so there could be an adjustment period. Joebird, while TC might leave, put it out of your mind and enjoy the ride. I hope he stays but if he moves on I'll be happy with JG as his successor. I know JG can recruit, and I hope he's learned something from TC these past four years. A VG win, imo.

ic59, I agree. great job going on the road and blowing a solid mid major out of their own building and shooting the way they did. this team is a lot of fun to watch. They also did this with Laury and Williams not having great games

Ic59, your right, enjoy the ride, this may be a great one. If not for that collapse at Cleve st, this would be an exceptional start.

Sent from my HTC6435LVW using proboards lmfao! Really not much to criticize based on today's effort. I guess the decision to take the air out of the ball with 10 minutes to go could have been questioned, but all in all the team was focused and played great. I for one would like to see the bench get involved a bit more. We will need those players to contribute as we approach league play.

Also nice to see Grant Ellis come off the bench after sitting practically the entire game and pop in a 3 on his first attempt.

Not much to say. About 25-30 Gael fans at the game. As mentioned earlier, place is great spot for mid-major hoops. Spoke with Rick Cole at the game and mentioned that we could create the same atmosphere as there without their top level seating and without their luxury boxes (sigh!). Fans were very respectful and in awe of our team. Most indicated that they had seen only 1 OOC loss in 2 years, and that no one had blown their guys out like this.
Tre will be a leader all year--you could just see/feel the confidence. Defense with the various zones was more than respectable. When we took the air out of the ball, our defense actually forced them deep into the clock with each possession. Good job.
Would have liked to see more of the bench late also, but Cluess was still coaching and, I believe, used this as a way to show the team how to handle a large lead.
Very satisfying win on the road. Good to meet some FL Gael fans and see JerryIona again!
PS Laury was taken out early in the first half due to 2 fouls; Hines did a great job in the zone. He's a real hustler but had no rebounds.

Jesus. Sand in the vagina? Sent from my HTC6435LVW using proboards Guy what was your take on the game and where the team stands a month into the campaign? Love where we are. Ahead of schedule. Biggest issue will be blending Sledge back into the mix. Defense is underrated and thus far we have closed out more leads than we've blown. All of this combined with MAAC signage has me itching for March already. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using proboards
