Super thanks for the game report. Any news on Sledge or Gomez's health? Noticed Sledge played a few minutes, wondering if this was just a tune-up to get him ready for Wednesday? Also curious to get your read on Isaiah Williams, as well. Go Gaels!!!

From Fort Myers: Love the arena. Seats 4600 but looks bigger. Great layout incl 7-8 open luxury boxes. Their fans stayed until the 3 minute mark. Good for them. I was told that the arena was built with one donation.
Loved the team defense, holding FGCU to one shot and out. 7 steals in the first half and a 12 point lead with Laury on the bench with 3 points. And we out rebounded them.
Wished Coach would sit the some of the starters sooner and let Robinson and Hines especially get more PT. Isaiah got an earful from Coach during a TO and I hope IW's body language was frustration at himself and not Coach. Love Hines' hustle - he's going to be a good one.
A great win due to our consistency on both ends for both halves. This is two in a row after the George Mason win. If we play team ball like we did today, Isaiah begins to play with the confidence we saw last year, Sean stays Sean, Hines continues to improve, we stay healthy and rest players as we can....we don't lose many MAAC games.
As Super mentioned, nice to meet some FL folks like epatrick, Ryden's uncle, some of Coach's family. And, as always, Mrs. Super.
GO GAELS!

Super thanks for the game report. Any news on Sledge or Gomez's health? Noticed Sledge played a few minutes, wondering if this was just a tune-up to get him ready for Wednesday? Also curious to get your read on Isaiah Williams, as well. Go Gaels!!! With English at the point as a result of Sledge injury, the team has moved well and not shown a downside in terms of quickness. Sledge will have to work hard for minutes. Some of their fans were amazed at our overall length, albeit without height, for a mid-major.. They could not believe the length combined with the quickness and shooting. We also did a nice job on the boards as jerryiona pointed out. No word on Gomez. Jerryiona and I were talking about IW. He showed a few spurts today, had a few rebounds and an uncredited block. His one strong move to the hoop resulted in a charge call. He made his first 3 early when it counted. He is definitely adjusting to D1. We did not need him today, especially the way Tre performed. Agree with jerryiona--nice to meet some other Gael fans and always nice to see Mrs. jerryiona.

Williams needs time to adjust. He'll be fine. Totally agree 9 ppg and 5 reb--not bad for his first 5 games.

They could not believe the length combined with the quickness and shooting. . That says it all, this is why I am so excited about this team. If you have followed this team the last 4 years its Cluess's best defensive team because of the length and its his best 3 point team. And I love English at the point. It gives Iona 5 offensive weapons at once, making them very hard to defend. Iona may have 4 of the best 10 players in the Maac and just imagine if Williams gets going. The sky is the limit. " march to the garden"!

sorry guy, forgot you are the only one that can rain on the parade of a win!! ic59 look at their sched so far and tell me what makes them even average? mid majors usually aren't good year to year thats why its impressive what cluess has done recruiting so well each year, especially that we have a quicker turnover since we have so many transfers

1970, all I'm saying is to wait a while before forming an opinion of how good FGCU is. They were good last year and have three or four, I believe, starters back. Also, it's always hard to win on the road, and to win by 18 points, I'll take every day and twice on Sunday. You have your opinion and I have mine. On this we disagree, but I always like reading your posts. Keep em coming.

Sounds like the depth of talent on this team shined through once again. Specifically, Tre's all around game and AJ's ability to run the point. Did AJ ever play PG before? He's 6'4" but has long arms that allows him to play like he's 6'6". A real nightmare of a match-up. I'd love to see Tre get MAAC POW.
A good start to a month filled with a heap of challenges.

Guy what was your take on the game and where the team stands a month into the campaign? Love where we are. Ahead of schedule. Biggest issue will be blending Sledge back into the mix. Defense is underrated and thus far we have closed out more leads than we've blown. All of this combined with MAAC signage has me itching for March already. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using proboards WOW, spellcheck butchered this. I didn't mean "signage" above, I meant "suckage".

One final thought....as we applauded the Gaels coming off the court....most players smiled or gave a thumbs up. Sean Armand stopped, looked up at us and said "thanks for coming". Class move

Missed the game while travelling. Sounds like a great effort and a solid win. As stated earlier, any blow-out win on the road is a good win. Getting a healthy Sledge back will only make this team even better. So far this team looks like they are coming together right on schedule, if not ahead of schedule. I'm sure there will be bumps along the road, but don't expect Wedensday will be one of them.

While team in florida Amayo making some strange tweets about possibly giving up basketball. I imagine it's tough to sit out as long as he has but hope he realizes sticking with it is best for him. I hope this post was not anything to be concerned with....amayo is going to be a 35 minute player next year
