R we the worst defensive team in the country? If we're not it's close. UNI is a team they score 43 points in their last outing. 55 the time out before that and 68 the game before that. We score a lot but allow our opponents to score more. Hey Gregcrow...have we ever lost 4 in a row under TC? I've already done my research. It's happened once before. Gaeloarsman - I did not mean that comment as a slight to you. Fact is I was present for the first three games of the Cluess era. All losses.

Okay, I'm sure no one cares what my take is, but here you go.
1. I am still very optimistic. I saw allot of good tonight. This team has incredible talent and depth. Somehow the coaching staff needs to find a way to make the parts work together. Might not happen as there are no guarantees. Sometimes you just have one of those years. I still have tremendous faith that this staff will keep working and find a way. Season starts Thursday and we are 2-0. 2. Hines 3. The referees were terrible. Not just the calls against us, but the incredible inconsistency. I was annoyed and the ref's did not like me. Armand getting tossed was ridiculous and everyone in the arena knew it. If the ref's call a fair game, we still lose. La vie. 4. Laury. It seems to be more than just his foul shooting. Needs to be more aggressive and confident. I am hopeful he will get there. I think the whole package is connected. If he gets more aggressive and confident, the foul shooting will improve. He is a huge key. If he gets his act together this team will be real tough to beat. 5. Coaching. My impression is that they are still working through things. Some of their defensive looks seem very complex to me. Might be that guys just aren't getting the details down yet. Remember last year, after all the close losses, the team defense started to click and they were, dare I say, even good at times. 6. AJ had an off night. It happens. He is not a problem and I think he will be a star before the end of the season.
As I said, I am still optimistic. Quinni should be a good test. Hopefully Williams is back and this team starts to get it together. The bottom line is the talent is there.
Go Gaels!

BTW - the biggest reason for optimism is that it will be a while before I can make another game!

" Fact is I was present for the first three games of the Cluess era. All losses." Greg--I was there in Cleveland with you--don't remind me!!!! Can we take up a collection to keep you away from games--especially MAAC tourney?

Schizophrenic Stats............... We led the nation in scoring 2 of the last 3 years with over 80 points per game...We are still averaging 80 points per game and among Div. 1 leading scoring teams...We are among the leading 3 point shooting teams....But......... We are near the bottom 25% of teams in STEALS, DEFENSIVE REBOUNDING, OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING, BLOCKED SHOTS...We are in the top 5% of points allowed.... We had a rising star who certainly looked like the point guard of the future until we fiddled with that position, and now appears to neither know whether he is fish nor fowl...We have not won since...It also appears to have a effect on our overall guard positions. Only desperation has recently forced the use of bench potential, but for some unknown reason much needed help is at hand but among the missing... We are a team that for some reason has lost its swagger, seems to be resigned to its faith and needs a strong leader to step forward....Perhaps the familiar MAAC surroundings will help...I sure hope so...
