Let us see if the friendly confines of the Hynes Center give the team a boost and help to energize them moving forward. One game at a time. Looking forward to a high effort exciting game. Hoping David Laury can keep improving his confidence. His talents are critical for our overall success. Great to see his free throws made against Quinnipiac. Sean, AJ and Tre lead the way! Let's get a win, GO GAELS!

Iona will win this game going away because Fairfield can't score. If you can't exploit our biggest weakness, you can't beat us.

I agree again Guy, our talent is a class above Fairfield, again a team ranked way way below us

Agreed. If this game is not a wire-to-wire blowout then we should all be disappointed. Frankly I think anything other than us running the table until the Manhattan game, or worst case losing one game by then, will be disappointing. The road to Manhattan game is as follows. We'll be the favorites in all of these games and anything less than a W in each would be a letdown:
vs Fairfield @ Siena vs Canisius vs Siena vs Quinny @ St Peter's

In order to achieve running over these opponents we will have to win on the road. I am a little skeptical.

Fairfield just lost at home to St Peter's on a buzzer beater. If we don't knock the snot out of these guys on Friday... :-)

I'm considering going to the game during a weekend trip to NYC. Anyone else going to be there?

What a mixed emotion night, return of Williams, win, Laury injury, not to mention Sledge, and Armand has a bad ankle. Knee injuries can go either way, it's usually either nothing or done for year. Armand and sledge may both be fighting this all year. Williams really provides a lift, he gets loose balls and his length is a big help on D. Cluess can be crazy, Gomez leads the team to the best offensive night in school history and now he is back at the end of the bench, and Poole was screamed at for simply letting a ball goes thru his hands, a simple mistake that did cost Gaels 4 points. Lastly English is as confident a player as I have ever seen at Iona, stud already and going to be all-time Gael great and when Bowman is hot he doesn't miss.
This year all depends on Laury's knee, lets all hope for the best.

Glad to get the win. Tre continues to be the X factor. David played a very good first half and great to see the free throws. AJ is showing he is ready to carry the team when Sean is dinged or having an off-night. Let's keep it going. Having Isaiah back should help with rebounding woes. Coach. Cluess work your magic and get us on a roll.

Some observations from the game:
1. Pleasantly surprised to see Isaiah Williams back. Hope he is doing OK in his personal life and that he can be a reliable presence for the team going forward. No doubt we are a more dangerous team with him in the mix.
2. Dominant offensive game by DL3, and great to see him get his touch back from the FT line. Was scary to see him go down at the end of the game. Any update on his status for Sunday's game?
3. Our rebounding was horrible tonight with our leading rebounder having just 4 boards.
4. Great game by Bowman, but Cluess continues to get on his case, particularly on the defensive end, where he expects more intensity from Tre.
5. Hope to see AJ's posterizing dunk on ESPN tonight. Was one of the best dunks I can remember in 25+ years of watching Iona basketball, and a great way to cap off the win.
6. Fairfield is woefully bad and we still gave them a glimmer of hope toward the end of the game with lazy passing and some bonehead execution.
7. Despite Sean's 0 FG still thought he played a solid game with some really good passing and decision making. Didn't force any shots and trusted his teammates to pick up the scoring slack, and created value in other areas. Impressive.
8. Terrific game by Sledge today, but his ankle (knee?) is clearly bothering him. Think coach is going to have to play it real conservative with him for the next few games. You get the sense that he's one step in the wrong direction away from a season ending injury every time he steps on the floor.
9. Surprised to see that we only had 18 assists tonight. Thought this was one of our best passing games all season long.
10. Despite Fairfield being a horrible team, we probably would beat almost all other MAAC teams with tonight's performance. Bottom line is that when we're shooting like we were tonight we will be a tough out for anyone in this conference.
Now let's go to Albany and get a win. Go Gaels!!!

If Sean is hurt, he should sit and get healthy. Didn't see the game, so don't know the status on Laury. Obviously hope it isn't bad. So far we've got Shack Scott out, Robinson, Sean hobbling, Tavon with a bad wheel, anyone else? Is Ellis still with the team?

Sean will never sit unless he can't walk, that's just how he is. Ellis still there, just sharing doghouse with Gomez.
Amayo was on crutches as well, one of those years with lots of injuries, but can't afford to lose Laury.
