As angry as I am for wasting that comeback we are one play away from being in sole possession of first. What a difference one play can mean in sports. Think about how high we would be right now if Armand hit that shot. The team just has to go one game at a time and focus on Siena tomorrow. As usual this will be an unpredictable Maac season, we just need to play our best in Springfield.

Agreed Joebird. big game tomorrow. hope the guys come out with the intensity and sense of urgency they played with during the comeback. Siena is not very good and has only one legit scorer in Rob Poole. Lets not let Hymes come off the bench and make him look like calvin murphy. Siena cant guard Iona. Iona is just too quick and athletic for them. Bury them tomorrow and get ready for another big Friday night game next week

greg, i need to borrow the sunny glasses you are wearing.great job by the coaching staff? so you are giving a great job for the comeback, and no blame for being down 20pts or the last 2 plays? the first possession baron got a layup with no one within 5ft of him, he should have called a time out right there, the whole week he should have talked about not letting him hit open shots and we dsidn't guard him the first possession of the game, the last 2 possessions were great also, and don't blame the players- in 4 yrs we have has about 10 different players involved in the last shot and 1 coach how many have we hit? he did a good job getting us back into the game, but we did blow a 5pt lead with 2 minutes left.

Gentlemen, focusing on the last two possessions is wrong. Every possession is valuable. If we had converted on several other possessions during game would have had us up at the end. Players are hammered on the value of each possession. AJ unfortunately turned the ball over. He knew he blew it. I do not expect that to occur with him again. We should treat every possession as "gold". My gripe was us falling as far behind as we did. I do like the smaller lineup pressure defense. Might be a great way to start second half. Finally saw Isaiah doing things we knew he was capable of. Against 2-3 zone using Mike Poole at high post worked very well during our big run. Team knows an opportunity was missed and will be motivated today. I expect a tight game today as Coach Patsos will have Siena ready.

Wow. Ton of overanalysis in this thread. Armand's shot falls and this thread is 3 pages shorter.
Before hailing Momo, lets remember how dreadful we were in close games last year.
Until the MAAC tournament.

GuyF, speaking for myself, my only point about MoMo was that he was supremely confident, and ALWAYS wanted the ball in his hands at crutch time. His decision making was not the greatest, but you could always leave the ball in his hands as the clock ran down, and now we don't have that option.

Because who we have recruited iona is reliant on the 3 point shot and outscoring their opponent if we shoot well in the maac we can beat anyone if not lose to anyone, in saying that iona played their best basketball against canisious coming back from 20 down in the second half. it was the 1st time they actually played defense agressively with a sense of desperation with 5 guys working together to get stops and rebound the basketball. ironically the run started without laury who has either lost total confidence in himself or is just not very good, unfortunately i think its the latter defensively he's 2 steps slow, slow moving his feet one reason why he's always in foul trouble and his rebounding on both ends of the court are poor, doesn't go up strong around the basket and can't shoot free throws, his strength as a player is dribbling the basketball up court which is totally unnecessary this team needs him to be a big body and rebound (they dont need him take the ball up court)

Let's put it this way: That stretch was the best defensive ball the team played since the Florida Gulf Coast game.

Reason we have a woefully bad record in close games is because our system is not built to win a nip and tuck game in the final minute. Those games are all about defense and who can get the stop when you most need it. Reality is that our system is built to have fun, out score the opponent and run them out of the building, but when it comes to a close game in the final minute and you absolutely need a defensive stop the odds will never be in our favor. This is the exact reason why I said I would reserve judgment about this years team until we got ourselves into a nail biter type situation.

Interesting game today......MONMOUTH-CANISIUS at Monmouth 2 PM...You will have to pay to watch, but I am pretty sure you will be able to listen free...Monmouth schedule will provide link..... Canisius a 4 pt favorite...They played Canisius fairly tight up there for 3 quarters of the game before losing by about 10...A Monmouth win would really put the MAAC up for grabs...
Hey----Fairfield upset Manhattan so its possible.......IMO Monmouth will rise in the MAAC the next couple of years and be a contender...Have a nice facility, and the MAAC will be losing through graduation many of its stars.....
