I expect that we will once again see Tre being the X factor. He is clearly developing his role and gaining more confidence in his shot. Isaiah is clearly working hard on finding his role now. The effort is there and should improve his confidence. I wish he found put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Coach Cluess is being careful with developing confidence and success with the rotations. The injuries are slowing the process. I feel once we are healthy, watch out. Need to be PATIENT. We will get there. Now we need contributions from the bench on a consistent basis. Let's attack Canisius all the way to the rim to get ready for Manhattan. When facing bigs it is key to get into their bodies at the rim to draw fouls, not pull up. Go right at them as they want separation to avoid contact. David needs to work on his recovery to be ready for Manhattan. Praying ice baths and our trainers can work their magic as we need all hands on deck for a run.

we need to shoot the ball beyond the arc very well to beat anyone in this league this team is so one dimensional we have no inside presence on offense, dont rebound very well and are probably the worst defensive team in the country.

This is going to be a tough game for us on Friday, but I think we match up real well against Canisius. Griffs are a good squad and have been getting solid output from Perez and Lewis as of late, and Heath is always going to be a matchup problem for us in the post. Just gotta let Baron get his 25-30 points and keep the other players around him under control and I think we should win as long as we get a regular day's work from Sean, AJ and Bowman. If both DL3 and Isaiah Williams are having on nights on top of that we hopefully won't have to sweat it out too much.

A check of box scores reveals that our 3 point shooting attempts are growing close to 50% of all attempts...In fact our last game against Siena they were more then 50%...This will work fine as long you are hitting them, but when not, it explains why at this point we are little more then a 50% winning team...
It is probably to late with the type of personnel we have to improve our inside game, but future recruitment should make that a target...
As a result IMO this season we will have disappointments, and elations along the way.......

OT, the 3 point shooting has become a huge part of the game at all levels. Almost every coach would love to have the wealth we have in shooters from deep. In theory the 3 point threat helps to create spacing and opportunities to get to the rim. We have at this point not taken advantage of this either off the dribble or feeding Laury in low post. Sean and AJ have shown the ability to attack off the dribble, very dangerous to defend. We need Tre to show that ability also. With the new rules this will be key against Manhattan as they will foul us if we attack. I pray we do not stay on perimeter and just launch fearing Brown and Pankey. Have to take it hard to the bigs. Most bigs hate having to protect the rim against a quick guard having beaten their primary defender. We will have to go strong, no fadeaway or circus shots as the refs will not call fouls on shots with low percentages. If David struggles at the free throw line expect Masiello to play "Hack-a-Laury". I hope the refs come ready to call the game properly. Manhattan currently ranks #345 in Division 1 with 26.6 fouls/game. Should be called the Muggers vs the Jaspers.

Have you actually watched a game? Have you seen DL3's inside game on offense?

Husker- I agree that tre and isiah should be able to attack more often but in this offense their job is to hit the corners and be ready for the kick out and knock down the jumpers. I think the team could benefit from both attacking but it is not the game plan nor can both crash the boards at the same time and have to lift to get back on defense. The offense is geared around Sean and aj attacking or the occasional DL off the dribble. Can't knock it because between aj sean, tre and dl we average 62 ppg. Hopefully we can continue the high volume of shots and moreover, makes! Key to this game is obviously slow Baron and get the win. And defensive tenacity and effort.

Actually i have watched and David Laury id a soft player Laury is a good player who is expected to carry a tremendous load...If we had just a workingman center, you would see the true DL3 emerge...He at times may appear to be playing soft, but that is brought about by the necessity of staying out of foul trouble...Being the scoring team we are, and the need for him to clock high minutes, there is little doubt IMO that he is under orders to not be overly aggressive... Hopefully if we can acquire that type center, or Robinson can put on 15-20 lbs. gain more experience and overcome injuries, then DL3 can move to a 3-4 spot where with his good movement and ability to release on break-aways would thrive. By my count we will have 4 spots to fill next season........Aggressive recruitment can bring great rewards....

Laury will continue to improve once Isiah is more comfortable. Then watch out as both of them dominant.

Multiple threats will create opportunities for others. Starting to look like "pick your poison". David Laury will get runs when we can space the floor and create space for him without being doubled. Or he facilitates when they double him. I will say it again, Tre is key. His shot making sets a tone. He just needs to find ways to contribute when the shots are not falling as Sean and AJ have done. We need to be ready for Baron as he has been on a tear lately. Let's make him work on D. It will be interesting how we choose to defend him.

Canisius is the "Billy Baron Show". Baron currently is near the top among the NCAA Division 1 individual statistic leaders as follows: 38.5 minutes/game- #1 22.9 pts/game- #6 261 fg attempts- #12 121 fg made- #11 3.06 3 pt fg/game- #25 92.2% Free Throw%- #7 4.9 assists/game- #67
We will need to disrupt his rhythm as best we can, but not foul him as his free throw percentages is very good. This will have to be team effort to contain him. Best individual talent we will face outside the Kansas game.

We open as a 7 1/2 point favorite early line.......A little higher then I thought it would be....
Would this work? Poole plays pretty good defense...Baron has excellent moves but only slightly above average speed...Assign Poole to track and concentrate Baron wherever he goes...If he can hold him to 20 or less, and make him work hard for it, I would like our chances......

Think Bowman is our best defensive matchup against Baron. If Sledge still had his step from last year I would say him, but this year I think Tre is the man to try to contain Baron. Don't think Poole is fast enough.
