Well, one thing we know is that this game will be for no worse than a share of first place in the conference. Not going to be easy, but let's hope the guys come out with 40 minutes of fire, especially from the bigs. Hopefully we also get a packed house for this one.
Go Gaels!!!

Couple of things: 1. It's the MAAC's best rebounding team against its worst. Is there any way we don't start DL and go with our small team, since we can't stay with them on the boards anyway? It would enable us to keep DL out of early foul trouble, but more importantly we'd have a team on the floor that could press them end line to end line. With our small team, with MP in the high post, we'd have four perimeter shooters (Sean, AJ, Tre and IW),who can also attack the basket. And Q would have to prove it can defend the three and handle the ball against our pressure. Of course we might insert RH in the starting lineup and hope that he and DL can do a reasonable rebounding jobs.
2. With the students back I do expect a sold out student side. Probably not on the Season ticket side, but a very good crowd nevertheless.

This is the kind of game where Sledge and Gomez can make a difference. We have to neutralize Azotam and Drame (they killed us in the first game). These 2 guys are tough but we can't allow them each to score 16 and grab 8-10 boards. I would say Poole, Williams, DL, and Hines need to step up and we will need their best effort. Boxing out and boards will be vital. As always, Sean, A.J. and Tre need to do their thing from the outside and actually defend at the perimeter. If our guards allow easy dump downs to the bigs, were toast!

Talk about the tale of two teams:
Points Per Game: Iona (16th nationally), Quinnipiac (62nd) Rebounds: Iona (321st), Quinnipiac (1st) Assists: Iona (3rd), Quinnipiac (198th) FG Shooting: Iona (26th), Quinnipiac (316th) Team Defense: Iona (331st), Quinnipiac (231st)

On Friday night, lets send the message that makes them wish they never left the NEC.

On Friday night, lets send the message that makes them wish they never left the NEC. Not sure what the line up should be but this a big game for us. We do not want 2 losses against another contender,

Don't know why but I have a good feeling about this game. Think we get a double digit win

A couple of more things: 1. Even if we lose, SOMEONE will say, no one losses to another MAAC team (other than Fordham) three times in a season. We'll get them in Springfield. 2. I didn't think their bigs killed us in our first game, as they did what I expected them to do, though I didn't think they were as good as they showed in that game. What really surprised me was that we played zone and collapsed down on their big men and their guards KILLED us from deep. We gave them so many looks and they didn't miss. I doubt/hope that they won't shoot as well on Friday.

Their guards are very quick and Hearst is pretty athletic, but they are all small. We have an advantage with length on the perimeter and we didn't have Williams at Quinny. Wouldn't mind seeng Tavon get most of the time at point and we go with Sean AJ Bowman and IW for stretches to exploit our size on the wing.

IMO and simply put...this should be a different game unless the Quinny guards come out hot again and put us away with the 3 ball early. Other than that the game will be different. Yea, the will outrebound us but who doesn't.

Make Quinnipiac work to defend us. Last several games we have shown new wrinkles with Poole in high post, baseline cuts from the wings and Isaiah attacking the rim. Make their guards uncomfortable coming up the floor and minimize the open deep looks. Agree with GuyF that their guards are inexperienced and could be lulled into trying to play our style vs theirs. I do not see them shooting like they did last game. Quinnipiac still a dangerous team with the way they offensive rebound .

Yes as I recall second chance points really hurt us in that game

Have to disagree about their guards being inexperienced: 1. Hearst is a 3rd year junior. 2. S.Shannon is a second year (Juco) senior. 3. U.Shannon, while playing in his first year with "Q" is a fifth year senior. Previously played for USF (South Florida?)
