Don't discount Dublin starting and everyone sliding over a spot. If Dublin can assume a Taaj like role and Hines can step up and continue to develop, we will be in good shape.

Spoke to a couple AAU coaches that remember Muhammad from playing with A.J. on team Takeover. They said he was obviously not a Machado but felt he would be good MAAC level PG. Called him a pass first PG who played defense and a really tough kid on the court and a great kid off the court. Sounds like a solid pickup by TC and staff.

Is it possible that the reason we keep adding more guards, with the addition of Muhammad and possibly the Grambling transfer, is that Amayo might be out for a longer period than expected

Is it possible that the reason we keep adding more guards, with the addition of Muhammad and possibly the Grambling transfer, is that Amayo might be out for a longer period than expected I think the key term is Point guard. We need a couple of options or AJ will be forced to play heavy minutes there again.

[From what the coaches said, last year, if Amayo is healthy, he'll start at OG. That means Casimir will come off the bench, with AJ the STARTING PG. If Kelvin isn't healthy enough to play, then it will probably be a battle between Casimir and the kid from Greece, if he shows up. If Casimir beats him out, then AJ would move to OG. Otherwise, Beebis starts at OG and AJ at PG. My money is on a healthy Amayo at OG.[/quote] IC........I Wanted to ask this question at a much earlier date, but held off in fear of being called my usual nit-picker, but curiosity has prevailed..... Amayo starting his third season with injury problems has in that time played in 3 games for a total of 28 minutes...Yet he has been anointed and is slated to be a starter............What is his attraction? I'll be trusting Cluess proven talent judgment, and be rooting hard for Amayo to remove all doubt that past performance has opened...

OT, I saw Kelvin play at last year's Meet the Gaels game as an OG. And while Iona, under TC, has never been known as a vg defensive team, but Kelvin was unstoppable, taking the ball to the basket. He brought a different dimension to a team known for its long range shooting (and b/t/w, shooting on the side court this summer, he also shows a nice "three"). At that time, 10/13, one of the coaches told me that Amayo will be our starting OG, once he's 100% healthy. Don't know how healthy he was at last year's MTG game, but he looked pretty good to me. And naturally the coaches know much better than we do, how good he is.

59...I'm big on Amayo too, but you need to take the MTG impressions with a grain of salt. Keep in mind that Ellis looked like Larry Bird and IW wasn't even on the floor at last year's MTG session.

As of now we appear to be a ship that is overloaded on the starboard side, and the cargo has to be shifted to right it...Unless this is done I see a respectable season, but one with bumps along the way... With school starting next week, if you can, please keep us informed of practice viewing...

05, I only mention the MTG game, because that is when one of the coaches told me that KA would be the starting OG, this year if healthy. For what it's worth, Ellis showed a very nice three point touch at MTG, and KA's forte, on the other hand, was taking the ball to the basket. I had NEVER seen either guy play before that, and I think MTG showed off their "game's". I agree that it's hard to use MTG as a measuring stick to gauge a guy's ability to earn PT for TC. Defense, willingness to work hard and smarts are something that TC sees that we don't (for the most part).
