Seems to have proved himself to be a prolific scorer against the best prep schools in the nation....erasing doubts about his high school resume which was off the charts however against inferior quality teams.....diamond in the rough?
Reminds me of a guard that only received one offer and that offer came in august "after" his senior year of high school.....they said too small.....his name...Bryce cotton
If JG and TC want him, then that's good enough for me. Looks like a pretty good o/s shooter, but it's hard to tell how well he can run an offense. About the same size as Tavon, but nowhere near as athletic(who is?), but he seems to be a better shooter. But if two great recruiters (JG/TC) want him, then that's good enough for me.
1. PG-check 2. Rebounder-open 3. BPA-open
Bottom line: Kudos to the coaching staff, but you still have some work to do. (Smiley Face)
Sorry guys... It is St Paddy's day weekend so I have been a bit busy.
First kudo's to dantef17 who first mentioned Schadrac Casimir as a potential target.
Schadrac Casimir - 5'10" PG - Averaged 25.7 points and 5 apg , 3 spg, shooting 42% from the three-point line, and 90% from the line his senior year at Trinity Catholic. All-State first team selection and CT High School Player of the year voted by CT coaches. Fnished his Trinity Catholic High career as the programs fifth all-time leading scorer as well as setting a single-season scoring record with 772 points his last year. Went to South Kent for a post graduate year where he tore it up against the best competition in the country. He was under recruited due to his height (some sites list him at 5'8". In fact South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson said “Schadrac is probably the most underrated player I’ve ever had... he’s been asked over and over to prove himself and he has never disappointed. Unfortunately most coaches only evaluate him on his size. Schadrac may be the best sub-six foot player in the league, He is a high-major scorer and very underrated passer and defender. A great team guy.” He had interest from Monmouth, St. Johns, Jacksonville, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Central CT, Binghamton, Stonybrook, Manhattan, Temple, Fordham, LIU, Va Tech, Canisius, Iona, Quinnipiac,Towson, Seton Hall, Rider, Cal State Santa Barbara and UMass Lowell and had offers from Sacred Heart, Iona, Umass Lowell, Cal State Santa Barbara and Toledo.
He’s averaging 17 points per game this season for South Kent along with over 3 assists and 2 steals while shooting 43% from the floor. He had 36 points against Brewster Academy at the National Prep Showcase, matched that total against Northfield Mount Hermon, and went for 32 against St. Thomas More. He ate Isaiaih Whitehead for breakfast in AAU last summer.
He will be one of the quickest PG's in the MAAC if not the quickest. He is very athletic, is a good defender, playmaker and can shoot the three with the best of them. He has a high hoops IQ. Perfect fit for Cluess system. If he was three inches taller he would be playing at Syracuse or UCONN.
Here is a review of his play at the National Prep Showacase: "Schadrac Casimer, 5’9, PG, South Kent (CT), 2014- The crowd favorite of the event was undoubtedly Schadrac Casimir, who put on a show for the 20-plus in attendance that came out to see him play. Every time that the speedy guard would get the ball, you’d have people standing up and rightfully so—since he did hang 36 points on Brewster. Casimir simply scored the ball with ease, whether it be via deep jumpers or tough takes to the lane. With an offer on the table from Sacred Heart, expect more programs to enter the picture by the time the late signing period rolls around."
