Really don't recall any such assumptions: 20ppg or 50%. "It seems every time..." Now who's exaggerating? Most comments are more measured albeit optimistic. We will not get any 4 star kids out of HS. who said 4 star, I would take 3 star. we lose kids to manhattan and quinny, who is exaggerating now I don't understand how with all our success we can't get someone to stay close to home and play here I didn't say I am not happy with our players just don't understand Do you expect every player to choose Iona over Manhattan and Quinny? We recruit from the same talent pool, we can't take everyone. If we ended up with a ton of stiffs I'd be on the same page as you, but there have not been too many recruiting misses or we wouldn't be winning 24 games ever year. When you say "stay close to home", are you referring to Westchester/NYC kids? Because New Jersey isn't far from New Ro, and neither is CT or Rockland. Would be nice to have a player from Mount Vernon every now and then but quite frankly Jersey players are better than NYC players lately so I'm fine with Jersey as the focal point.

Read on Zagsblog, I believe, that we got McGaughey through the efforts of Brock Erickson. Congrats to Brock.

He is a scoring guard with great range, who can play the wing. BTW with all the hype placed upon kids today, in my opinion, few will ever live up the hype these recruiting sites honor them with. I like what I see in this young man and believe he can become a solid contributor, possibly a star player. College recruiting success is all about getting good kids who can play your style of ball, a willingness to work hard and a great desire to win! Go Gaels!

How about we be happy with what we have? I am. We are on the radar every year, a player or 2 being mentioned in drafts. We have a bunch of guys overseas, plying ball for money. No one wants to play us, yet we complain about the schedule. We as Iona fans, should just shut the f up and let the best staff this school has ever had do its thing

We have in the past 5 years won an average of aprox 24 games a year, and a college of aprox. 4,000 students has gained a National reputation as one of the better mid-majors in the country...All this has been built from a 2-28 season...There have been few if any Div. 1 basketball programs that have and sustained that type of resurrection....All signs point to another great season....
And yet we have fans that want and expect more...This is a clear sign of the ''Never Satisfied'' spoiled greed that has grown and allowed by parents that vowed to never have their children know the suffering as their generation endured......
I have had with the past few seasons a sense of satisfaction that rates high on my 70 years as a Iona basketball fan...
Now feel free to disparage the ''OLDTIMER'' as a relic of the past......

I'm not spoiled. Heck the heated seats in my SUV broke last winter and I still went to work every day.

With the way our roster is being filled and the possibility of walk on's with some talent sitting on the bench I have the sense that Coach Cluess has been taught a valuable lesson...
In particular the past few season we have entered Tournament time as a tired and depleted team which at times seemed to be going through the motion...
Recognizing this he has appeared to have met the problem head on...As a result IMO we will see a increased use of our bench particularly in games that appear to have been 'Put Away'...Aprox 20 or more straight MAAC games have a tendency to lure complacency and dull the edge of competition...
Again IMO the MAAC should be reduced to a 15 game schedule there by increasing OOC games by 5 which will allow the re-introduction of some inner Metro rivals without lessening our SOS value...
I enjoy and look forward with anticipation to all games, but we need a schedule change that will re-charge the mid-season drab.

SecondToNone @raysalnave10 8h8 hours ago Also for those wondering, my list is Rutgers , Iona , Monmouth & Seton Hall .. Looking forward to tomorrow ? Adam Zagoria @adamzagoria 12m12 minutes ago Iona is not recruiting Cardozo G Ray Salnave, source tells @snytv. He will announce college choice Thursday w/ Monmouth the favorite. I guess E.J. Crawford's commitment eliminated our need for Salnave.

Pretty sure that's dead on re Crawford. Funny he is claiming that he cut his list down to Rutgers , Iona , Monmouth & Seton Hall. From what I understand, Iona, Rutgers and SHU have all stopped recruiting him. I wonder if there are some issues surrounding this kid.

Maybe we should start a new thread of players we aren't recruiting each year.
