Ty Jerome, I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks of him. He's a junior at Iona Prep and is receiving attention of recent. Just went on a visit to Rutgers and is receiving interest from Notre Dame, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Temple, Creighton, GW, St. Joe's, URI.
Jordan Bryan 6'2" SG - Here is a report from the Gym Rat Challenge:
"A quick and active defensive-minded guard. Uses quickness and strength to be a shut-down one-on-one defender. Active hands produce his share of deflections and steals. Attacks the rim on offense and finishes well. Active and bouncy, gets off feet quickly."
Unique McLean - 6'1" SG from the MacDuffie School and Team Scan. The kid gets to the hop with ease, can shoot the three, had=s a very good handle, has serious hops and is very athletic. Pins shots on defense all day long... has great timing. His dunks could compete in an NBA dunk contest. I expect him to go high major.
Has offers from Dayton, Detroit, Siena, St. francis, Fordham, Manhattan, SPU, BU, Rutgers, JMU, VCU, Fairfield and Duquesne. Interest from Cincinnati, UCONN, Pitt, Providence, Robert Morris and Temple.
Mamadou Diarra - 6'8" PF from - Putnam Science Academy who originally attended Believe Prep in SC. Very athletic, a very good defender who can block shots and rebound. Is reported to have a 7'2" wingspan. Can shoot well out to about 15' but prefers to play above the rim. Has a great motor. Plays for NYC Jayhawks in AAU. He is from Queens. Tends to foul a bit too much as he sometimes can be a bit out of control. Offers from SPU, Quinny, Norfolk State, Fairfield, Manhattan, Rider, Monmouth, BU, Drexal and Hofstra. Looks from Providence, BC and St. Joe's.
Scouting reports:
Hoop Group Elite Camp: "There’s no denying he would have been a camp all-star had he not had to depart camp early. Diarra was an absolute force inside the paint combining power, athleticism, and a high motor alike."
Basketball Summer Championships - "NYC Jayhawks: The big man who has been impressive all spring continued to display his skills during this live period. Diarra has impressive jumping ability and played well with interested coaches observing. Monmouth and Manhattan became the latest to offer Diarra on Saturday"
Elite 75 - Best of the Underclassmen - "Diarra was one of the most naturally gifted players in the field, with an impressive mix of athleticism and upper body strength. His strong dunks were what made him stand out initially, but it was his sustained commitment to the defensive end of the floor that had eyes on him for the whole afternoon."
Travis Atson 6'5" SG/SF -He is a good student and plays AAU for Juice All-Stars. Averaged 16.8 points per game at CTK. Had a torn ACL as a freshman but seems to have rehabbed well. Was the CHSAA playoff MVP and a Times Ledger All-Queens First Team selection. His coach at CTK claims he holds more scholarships than Jon Severe did at the same point of his career. He can shoot, drive to the basket, is smart and hustles. Very athletic and is pretty fearless , Offers from The Bonnies, Quinny, Fairfield, UCSB, Sacred Heart, Winthrop and Texas-Arlington. Getting looks from Fordham, Holy Cross, Temple, Colgate, Dayton, GMU, UMASS and Hofstra.
Travis Aston has a nice shooting touch. I am sure that as he becomes stronger and shows consistency from beyond the arc he will draw attention from higher level programs. Our hope is that he wants to play close to home, wants to play early on and we make the NCAA's again. If South Kent School graduate Schadrac Casimir has success at Iona maybe that will help us gain traction during the recruiting process. Always good seeing us pursue local products.

Kevin Hamlet - is a 6'7" stretch 4 . Canadian player who played in California last season. He was listed s a junior last season so must have reclassified when he transferred to St. Benedict's. Reported to be a well rounded player that can also play Defense.
Arnaldo Toro - is a 6'8" PF/C from Puerto Rico. He is very strong, can hit the short jumper, has a good motor, rebounds well at both ends, likes to hit the offensive and finish. He likes to slide to the baseline looking for the pass from a cutting teammate and then dunking. He has interest from Miami, West Virginia and Notre Dame. Future 150 has him ranked as a 3 star and ranked as the 137th best player in his class. Dick Weiss listed him as one of the Top 10 Players at the FIBA U17 World championships in Dubai this summer. His report on Toro is:
"Toro, one of four Puerto Rican imports at St. Benedicts prep power, was the star of this island team that finished a surprising fifth in this tournament, ahead of Canada and China. Toro averaged 16 points and led the tournament in rebounding with a 13.4 a game as Puerto Rico finished 6-1 overall. Toro, who is being recruited by Miami and Notre Dame, is a rising senior who will play big time college basketball"

Let's hope Hamlet is capable of making a decision. And Toro sounds like a real bull. Boom, there it is!!!

Hamlet, when being recruited by other schools must say to himself “Words, words, words.”
