St. Chicken beats a reeling Seton Hall at home and the NY media has an orgasm and goes on and on how they are ready for magic in the NCAA tourney. Enough already just play us! I would rather play St. chicken in 1 game to get in the tourney than to go through the Maac tourney. Outsiders simply don't know how hard it is to beat teams that know you so well 3 games in a row. If we make it and St chicken does you won't hear anything about our game unless we win. To make matters worse St Francis' possible Cinderella story will get all secondary stories. I really hate the NY college basketball media. Joe, try not to get all caught up in the pro St. John's or lack of Iona media attention. Hey, there may be room for both teams to make magic in the tourney, just so long as we are in the other side of the bracket. Also, best to slide under the radar. Catch a higher ranked Goliath off guard.

The 1 seed having to play a road game to open the tourney is ridiculous. I hope Siena loses the first game more so no one is at the tourney than for Iona not to have to Play them. I really want Albany to fail. What the Maac forgets is the reason it left Albany is no one goes unless Siena is playing. I would rather have no one go at a neutral site. Still think now that 8 of 11 schools are close to NYC a tourney near NYC has the best chance of getting 4,000+ no matter who is playing.

Joebird, the possibility of the #1 seed playing a road game in its first game is indeed a joke. You make a good point, but that's the way it is. And it will probably be that way for the next three years. I guess, when it comes to the MAAC tourney, the TUC is our HOME court.

Cleveland State drops to 17-12, losing at Milwaukee 66-60.
That was our only OOC opponent to play on Sunday. Since it wasn't positive for us, maybe we can take some comfort that #24 THE Ohio State lost once again to an unranked opponent, beaten at Michigan 64-57.

Manhattan now 15-12 and 12-6 in the MAAC, coming from behind to defeat Marist 67-54. The Red Foxes drop to 5-23 and 4-14 in the MAAC.
Delaware State falls to 13-15, losing at Norfolk State 81-71.

Niagara climbs to 7-21 and 6-13 in the MAAC, winning at Canisius 82-71. The Golden Griffs drop to 15-13 and 10-9 in the MAAC.
#18 Arkansas, up by as much as 25 points, allow Texas A&M to cut the lead to 2 before winning 81-75. The Razorbacks are now 23-5.

Sherman isn't the only poor announcer. Don't know their names, but I was watching the SJU-Xavier game on Fox Sports, the other night, and near the end of the game, with Xavier having the ball, down one, and a player is obviously fouled by SJU. No whistle, and the announcer says, "good no call, let the kids decide the game". SJU gets the ball, but Harrison has his pocket picked with about 25 seconds (??) remaining. Fortunately for SJU, their kids must have been listening to the announcers and Xavier is out of time outs, and when the Musketeers are driving for the go ahead score with less than 10 seconds left, a SJU player 'throws' the Xavier 7'0 center to the floor. Again a good no call if you're a St. John's fan. At that point I turned the channel, so I don't know what the announcer said.

Yeah, I noticed that, they let a LOT go down the stretch. Sorry, but Stainbrook is a monster, if he goes down hard, it's due to a foul. SJU with not only the media on their side apparently.

I pointed this out on a SJU board and a response was that Harrison ran and brushed passed Stainbrook causing his fall and goggles flying

There are so many other calls that have gone against us that could have cost us wins also, so don't just point to one or two calls. If anything we have not gotten the whistle this year. Including one egregious case when we were trying to come back in the first Butler game and the ball flew 20 ft. from the basket after a made Free Throw. Refs are supposed to blow the whistle and stop the clock while they go look for the ball. Lost like eight seconds. Offensive goal tending calls that were not goal tending. Phantom fouls etc. We have had a lot of bad calls go against us. When the game gets ratty in the final seconds they only call certain things, but they get scrutinized much more because it is the end of the game. I don't think refs should swallow the whistle at the end of the game, but don't call touch fouls when the game gets ratty either. Do you realize how much contact during the game doesn't get called but you just don't notice it as much. The game of basketball has gotten so physical that there are things let go all over the place. It didn't look like Harrison hit him too hard and he, if you noticed, was in better position for the rebound when he got up. May have just lost his balance. That just doesn't get called away from the ball at the end of the game. And don't look at just one or two calls because there are a million calls during the course of a game.
As far as the media goes, if you think they are pro St. John's, check out Phil Mushnick. St. John's actually recruits kids from underprivileged backgrounds. My goodness. Seton Hall are media darlings. Even though they cheated and lost big this year. Check out Brandon Prunty in the Times. He thinks it is wonderful that they hired Tiny in order to recruit Whitehead. Compares it to Larry Brown hiring Danny Manning's father, and other cases of coach's hiring a recruits father, which is perfectly legal. But he doesn't point out that Tiny is NOT Whitehead's father so it is ILLEGAL AS HELL!!! I'm obviously a passionate hoops fan and you got me going. What an evil guy.

I think Arkansas is going to give Kentucky a run for their money. Sorry to disagree with you Tau. I have watched a number of Arkansas games recently, and they have been lucky to pull some wins out over teams whose records were not impressive. IMO, I honestly believe that were Iona to play them now, with our bench more developed, and assuming a healthy IW, that we would have a good shot at winning, or having a much closer losing margin that we did when we met them back in November.

This shows why we won't get an at-large or 11 seed, this game was close, but if you look at the score it looks like it wasn't. If you think the committee looks to see what the score was with 10 minutes left you would be wrong. If people here don't remember that game was close how can we expect others to know
