Villanova is the ONE (original) BE team that is a top level team. I consider Butler and Xavier to be A10 teams, and don't consider the BE to be much better than the A10. SJU should be bad, four seniors, next year while SH should be better. Marquette and Creighton could be key if they can get back to where they usually are. Providence, will be good, but will have to live with Ed Cooley's unexciting brand of BB. However, if they win their fans will be happy. I guess my point is that the new BE is no where near the level of the old BE.

Regarding the BE, I heard the craziest rumor the other day; NYU going back to D1 joining the BE, playing at MSG, and St. John's moving to Barclay's. That could pump a lot of blood into that conference down the road!

Dolph Shayes, Satch Sanders, Barry Kramer.......NYU has a history. We played in a double header in the Garden in the late 60s. They were in the first game, Gaels in the second.

05, the OLD BE had three teams in the Final Four.[/quot its not like that happened all the time, the big east is still probably a top 4 conference

The BE might lack the national powers it used to (outside of Nova), but pound-for-pound it is one of the best conferences in the country and not even close.

Iona05, no way that the BE is a Top Five conference. I think that you're confusing it with the OLD BE. In fact the two BE teams that looked the best, yesterday, were A10 transplants, Xavier and Butler. Fox Sports does a great job of promoting the conference, but mostly they are just blowing smoke. I'm not saying that the BE isn't a good conference, but, as of now, it isn't a vg conference. I think of it as Snow White (Nova) and the Nine Dwarfs.

59, if the BE doesn't get credit for the new teams do they get credit when hte old teams win? Xavier and Butler count as BE tams whether they are new or not

1970, do you remember when the Catholic Seven formed the BB only league? Close your eyes and tell me how many do you see in the Sweet Sixteen? (SF)

1970, do you remember when the Catholic Seven formed the BB only league? Close your eyes and tell me how many do you see in the Sweet Sixteen? (SF) what does that have to with now? Do we get credit if Lasalle makes a run? Does the MAAC get killed for Fordham still? The big east is whoever is in it now!! I want to give them credit for ND since they were in it, i also blame the BE for Syracuse and Uconn not getting in

Terrible job by the BE to only get 1 team out of the first weekend, but fact remains it's one of the best leagues in the country.
