It might be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping for some type of CS, that AJ and Desi, will have to perform together.

Expecting we will find out what discipline is meted out by Coach Cluess just before game time. Whatever happens we need to win and keep lead in MAAC.

If he is suspended for Friday Iona won't tell you until right before the game. Got to think the Maac/ESPNU doesn't want him sitting out Friday. Could he be instead suspended for final SPU game? However I think that may be an ESPN wildcard game.

It's all clear that as a result of that the ref was at least thrown off balance and fell. - to me whether the ref is a klutz or not is irrelevant. AJ threw him and he was able to hold himself up on his hand, so he didn't fall all the way to the floor. To me the key point is that the ref initiated the contact. I think it's a whole different thing if it was the other way around.

Based upon discussions on Mark Singelais' twitter feed involving Josh Newman and Zach Braziller there is high level of interest in this situation by some in the media. I am getting a sense that the MAAC realizes this and there will be an announcement sooner rather than later to avoid further scrutiny and negative publicity. My guess is their decision will be that AJ English and Desi Washington will be suspended one game for initiating the situation. I wish that the MAAC had dealt with this in a timely fashion so everyone could move on, rather than this dragging out and giving some the opportunity to continue to take shots. Unfortunately a number of individuals with podiums are making statements that imply facts about what happened based upon their interpretation of the two available videos. Classic, journalists writing without interviewing anyone on the court or court-side at the game who may have first hand knowledge of what happened between the players. The reality is that these specific journalists are lazy and are instead editorialists expressing their opinions. Additionally the comments by the ESPN broadcasters regarding AJ and Kelvin reinforce the negative impressions. Praying for a final outcome before tomorrow so both programs can move forward.

Almost every fight I have ever seen where a ref tries to hold back a player the player initially tries to get away. AJ tried to get away with a pretty minimal move and the ref went flying, which made it look way worse. Most refs would not have fell like this. What AJ did was a normal reaction and how the ref fell was not what you would expect from Aj's attempt to get away. The ref made this look worse than it was. That being said I think Iona is going to self impose a 1 game suspension, which would not have been necessary had the ref not fell.

Having looked at the replay several times, I am more of the opinion that there won't be any suspensions. Washington went directly into AJ's face right after the last shot. Hinds and Ibn immediately went to separate the two. That's when Dominique grabbed Hinds shirt and things got out of hand. The referee went after AJ not the other way around. At this point the game was over. The refs should have exited the gym and let the staffs and security handle the matter. And both staffs did a great job in dousing the flareup. If the league hands down any disciplinary measures, the refs should also be reprimanded. The reffing on both sides was a fiasco.

AJ twisted and shrugged the ref off. He didn't throw him down. That said, he probably gets a 1 game suspension. If that is the case it would probably make sense to suspend him for the upcoming St Peter's game. That would help calm a potentially volatile atmosphere for that game.

We need a decision soon so everyone can move on. Unfair to coaches and players without clarity on situation. Not what the Iona and St. Peters programs need right now. The rest of the MAAC is loving the distraction. Siena fans looking forward to no AJ. A true mountain being made from a mole hill. Commissioner Ensor be decisive!

Maybe they are going to leave it up to the schools, in which case if Cluess is going to suspend AJ one game as you stated no need to announce that until he submits the line up on Friday.
