Masiello would also be a strong candidate for SHU or SJU but I would imagine his buyout is steep since the diploma incident.

Willy in a tough spot. Not his fault. Hopefully Pat doesn't pull a Bozella Not his fault??? Sold his soul to the "handlers" and will pay for that--much backstabbing going on over there. Watch the antics--been calling for anger management classes since he came to IC. Kids don't like that stuff.

So many possible problems there. Maybe Tiny Morton is trying to push Willard out. Would not surprise me. Or the other ass't coach KW brought in as part of a recruiting package. Or KW's boring offense. Or perhaps handlers to whom promises were made. I agree with 86, sanctions would not surprise me either. This is shaping up as the kind of situation that threatens an AD' s job, so I would not push the panic button about Lyons trying to Cluess. Assuming Tim would may not want any part of the circus that has set up camp at Seton Hall. They love Lyons over there, unless he participated in something unscrupulous he's safe at SHU. His biggest issue is by far the mounting pressure to dump Willie if this seasons collapse continues. I'm not sure they have the financial flexibility to fire Willie now and hire a new coach either?

[Willy in a tough spot. Not his fault...Quote Ichoops Who the hells fault is it?..... In his 5th year, its the same old story...He is absolutely without a ounce of emotion or expression win or lose...This attitude is contagious and will in time infest the entire team. This dourness is part of his makeup, and fosters little if any inspiration... This of course is only my opinion...but the 'Buck stops here' and not with empty year after year promise...

Who would have predicted Willard's departure would be the best thing to happen to Iona.
Well, maybe Greg.

Willard is in deep trouble. His team has imploded and lost Sina. Sterling Gibbs was tight with Sina and is not happy about his leaving and the crap going on at Seton Hall (Whitehead and company). At the end of this year he will lose PF Brandon Mobley (10ppg and 6 rpg) SG Haralds Karlis (10 min a game) SF Stephane Manga (10 min a game). 2015 recruit PF Cheick Diallo just removed Seton Hall from his list and Willard only has one recruit committed for next year and that is SG Dalton Soffer who is a decent recruit but not an impact player by any standard. If there are anymore defections or they do not sign some decent players... Willard could get canned soon.
Maybe we will get lucky and Mike Nezi will look to leave.

When you look back at all the local hires in 2010, Iona is head and shoulders above evyone else, Cluess to Iona Lavin to SJU Willard to SHU Rice to Rutgers Pecora to Fordham Welsh to Hofstra Mitch to Siena
Wow, not even close! We're the only program to progress!!

I am hearing that Sterling Gibbs may bolt Seton Hall at the end of the year. He would have his degree and would be a 5th year graduate transfer. I am hearing that he and Whitehead hate each other. This would kill Willard's shot at Gibbs younger brother Temple Gibbs (PG -2016) who is a 4 star recruit and a consensus Top 100 player. Sterling Gibbs would be a huge get for anyone.
