I'm guessing that we'll be about a five point 'dog. St. John's probably using this game to see who succeeds Steve Lavin. (SF)

Should be an interesting game. Sounds like RI is a better version than Manhattan. 2 really good players in Matthews and Martin. Sounds like Martin is not 100%. RI only shoots 29% from three, while not really taking many attempts, with Matthews taking the most attempts, but only shooting 32%. Obviously most of their offense is down low with Martin and Biruta. Also to watch are 2 rule changes. 30 second shot clock and the 3 foot restricted arc is expanded to 4 feet. For the coaches on the board does the expanded 4 foot restricted arc help or hamper a team that scores mostly from inside?
Also just saw that Stanford is hosting the women's NCAA tourney this weekend, so their facility might not be available to host a 2nd round game, meaning the winner of RI/Iona might get the home game. this has happened before in the NIT. But first things first. finding a way to beat a very good RI team

author=" broguy99" source="/post/55804/thread" timestamp="1426514387"]Iona +7[/quote] If that is a true line and not guess work, it should be a very inviting for Iona fans.... We match up very well size wise...Laury will be possibly the biggest and strongest man on the court...If he plays with ''I don't want this to be my last Iona game 'Fire' he may well be a dominating factor... Williams could also be a big concern for RI...If he has a good game and is reasonably on shooting target, he well be hard to guard... Casimir will not have to deal with overwhelming height... English thrives under these type games... Amayo will be crashing the boards in his usually reckless manner.... Lots to ask, but if it comes together, and we can get up somewhere in the higher 70's...That should be enough for the win...... A lot to ask and for it to come together, R.I. is well coached, plays pretty good defense is team oriented, but seem to have trouble when met with better type opposition... As to home court advantage...If memory serves...They have a good fan base, but a nice bunched of Iona fans grouped together as there were in games past can be effective... For those going by auto....RTE.95...After exiting Conn. into R.I. it will be about a short l5 minute drive to if again memory serves to Exit 3...Get off and go right... Follow Newport signs...Another 10-15 minute drive...College on left...Kingston Station on right...Plenty of parking...as it will be weekday travel expect heavy getting finished work traffic up to New Haven...Once past, you should have free sailing...2 1/2 hours should be sufficient....Wish I could join you...If you see any golf balls alongside roadway, there probably mine strayed by a long sweeping hook...

7 pts seems excessive. Figured it would be a pick-em on neutral floor, so Iona getting 4 pts or so on the road. Ouch.

Someone told me that the game opened at Iona +9, and is now down to +7. Take Iona and the points.

Francessa embarrasses himself when he talks about hockey and college basketball much of the stuff he has said today about bubble teams was totally inaccurate

Per LOHUD twitter IW questionable
Just spoke to #ICMBB coach Tim Cluess. Isaiah Williams is questionable vs. Rhode Island. He is sick and has not practiced. #NITTournament

Seems like URI only has two players over 6'7 who get significant minutes. Still baffled by the point spread. Would be surprised if this doesn't come down to wire.

From the little I saw of them they have really good length and play tough physical defense. They don't shoot it real well if you defend them. If we give them a number of easy baskets they will be tough.

Hopefully we can get them to play at our pace early on. They are coming off short rest following a brutal weekend in the A10 tournament. We should be very well rested on the other hand. We have a lot of things in our favor for this matchup. It's about time the basketball gods smiled down on us with a postseason present.
