That is an unreasonable expectation to put on the young man. He would probably have to log David Laury type minutes of 35+ per game to have shot at a double/double average. I think this year's team is structured so that we won't need the 35+ minutes from anyone. However, if there is a double to be had; I hope we get it in rebounds from Jordan. What the hell! Let's have the other double in blocks per game. Won't happen!

Washington is the man. I told you guys he will have as much of an impact as DL III. If this kid had gone to Christ The King or St. Anthony's he would have easily been a Top 100 player coming out of high school. He is a force inside and as tough as the come. A skilled bruiser is what we have been missing. He will also open up the outside game for AJ, Ced and IW. The fact that he has gotten into better shape is a good sign for this season. With Jordan, Rountree and Bessick... our prayes for quality bigs and depth has been answered.

Six games in and one thing that is very noticeable about JW is that doesn't try to shoot with his LEFT HAND, when trying to score down low. My question, is it too late in his development to try to learn how to use his 'other' hand? If he is able to do so, he'd be much more effective.

It's never too late to learn unless there is something physical going on that prevents him from using it.

I can't believe that the coaches haven't tried. But I'm just guessing.

Wash averaging almost 16 and 7 in just 19 MPG and despite missing most of training camp with an injury. Imagine what kind of numbers he could put up if he could stay out of foul trouble and give us 25-30 MPG? Scary. I still think we are talking about him as the best big in the MAAC by March.

iona05, I agree that if Jordan Washington can mature and stay on the court for longer periods he will be a huge factor in Iona's success. I say maturity because it takes discipline to not allow opponents or refs to get the best of you. David Laury had to go through same process. Control the game, do not allow it to control you. Film review with coaching staff will help the process of understanding. Takes time. Patience. He not starting is a smart move as it allows him to see how game is called and played. More minutes and more made free throws will make him the man for MAAC Tournament time when games are grindfests. Imagine him occupying space and defenses down low creating open looks on perimeter. Dare to dream the possible a low post force.

Interesting stat by Ken Pom. Washington is the number 1 player in the nation out of like 2200 in % of possessions used at about 40%.
