Tau, I've lost track. Doing three things at once. Taking care of an eight month old baby and reading outrageous attacks from cowards can be distracting. Who do you think should and shouldn't be where? This could actually be an interesting off season discussion if some people didn't think it was a fight or a cheerleading session. Only thing I have a problem with is Casimir being left off Yeah, I know. He is really good and I like him a lot, and he has really good numbers. It's just that the Met awards are sort of a thing where they award the Seniors and even the Juniors. It's just always been what they've been about. They are what they are. It's much more important to them then conference affiliation. For example, awarding a fourth year senior over a third year senior even though he may have better numbers.

Guy that covers SHU writes:
HOOPS HAVEN SAYS: The obsession with Iona is mystifying. Sterling Gibbs would put-up video game numbers in that system, against their schedule. No way two Iona player should have been first team over him
Also: Sterling Gibbs made 2nd team All-Met behind 2 Iona guys. If Gibbs played in Iona's offense, vs. Iona's sked, he'd put up video-game numbers.
Tell him to have SHU schedule us!

Delgado is an easy choice for ROY. I'm surprised he's sharing it. Admit, if you were offered Delgado for Casimir, you'd do it without blinking. Imagine the numbers Delgado would put up in the MAAC.

Although all-Met really doesn't matter, Gibbs also got screwed. Six players in the area better than him? If you were starting a team in the Met area, he's the first guard you would take. At one point he was playing as well as any guard in the country.

The thing with Gibbs, and I'm beating this to death here, is that the Met awards go to players who have played here a long time. It was only Gibbs' second year playing at SH. (He transferred from Texas). That's just what the committee does. They award fourth year players. One of the more prominent examples of this, in the current year, that I'm surprised nobody is complaining about, is Phil Greene. He was not as good as Gibbs, to be sure, but he was a four year starter, so the committee saw fit to honor him. I was happy for him, because he is a great kid, but if he was a Sophomore, he would not have made the All Met Third Team.
This trend has broadened since more of the top players in College Basketball have been leaving for the NBA, and other places, earlier and earlier. I guess they want to reward loyalty to their chosen programs. Hence the results that we see. But you can always find inconsistencies, and debate the decisions, because the way you interpret and weight each statistic, will always be subjective. It's a good topic for off-season message board discussions.

Gibbs was on the second team. No way a second year player makes All Met first team, especially if his team goes 6-12 in conference, unless he is a borderline All-American.
