Please don't let this happen..lol. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'd be more upset about missing out on a recruit to an A-10 or BE school than the AE. I know the MAAC was pretty bad last year, but there was a time not very long ago that Iona was frequently involved with recruits of that ilk. This kid and Yoro Sidibe look like nice players, but their interest only seems to be other low majors, so that tells me they may have work to do before being impactful (even in the MAAC). Am I misinterpreting?

This kid and Yoro Sidibe look like nice players, but their interest only seems to be other low majors, so that tells me they may have work to do before being impactful (even in the MAAC). Am I misinterpreting? Fair point about the offers, but while it's great to beat out higher level programs for recruits, I tend to take a closer look at the "fit" for the Iona system as well as their stats and videos. It's rare Iona beats out higher level recruits like they just did getting Washington over Seton Hall, and Iona has thrived on recruiting kids who have been under recruited, and getting kids that transfer down. Devale Johnson..put up really good numbers this year and is a fairly athletic 6'8" SF. makes threes, blocks shots and has a similar all around game to Isaiah Williams. Johnson is ranked as one of the top 110 JUCO kids. Just appears to check all of the boxes as a recruit who would fit well in the Iona system and be a very good MAAC player. Just my opinion, but I think he would have a great shot of starting from day 1, and everyone knows how big a fan I am of Ristanovic. A frontcourt of Agee, Crawford and Johnson backed up by Ristanovic and Nikolic would be the best in the MAAC. Yoro Sidibe..less info on him. Great athletic 6'7" SF. Came to Long Island Lutheran just this past September after moving from Senegal. Has a pretty solid skill set but without question very much under the radar and under recruited. He had some solid games his 1 year at LuHi but very likely over shadowed on a loaded HS team. Sidibe to my knowledge has never played AAU which probably also kept his recruitment quiet. Asked a couple recruiting "experts" about him and they all pretty much agreed he could turn out to be a steal for a MAAC level program. Thought was if he did play a full summer on the AAU circuit between his athleticism, ability to show a pretty good but still developing skill set that he would be getting higher level offers than the MAAC. Sorry for the long response. I would be very happy with either one and would love to get both, though not very realistic. Just my opinion.

Actually got a call about it. Hey, it's been a busy May, with facility upgrades and commitments, and that's after an entire April in which we thought our coach was gone. I'll take the lull.
Monday night is the Goal Club HOF Golf Outing. Likely some scheduling gossip will come out of that.

Headed to URI next week... keaneyblue.com/viewtopic.php?t=8053I saw that. This kid's recruitment is all over the place. His coach posted on twitter a couple weeks ago that Johnson had to take a few extra classes in May to graduate from his JUCO and be eligible, which he did. Probably the reason he is now getting more interest and visiting multiple programs. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Who knows, maybe if Iona doesn't land one or more of their other recruiting targets they decide to get involved with Johnson again
