I think the MAAC did pretty well, winning two games, as only two teams (Marist and SPU) had home games. SPU won and Marist lost by three. I've agreed with Guy and others who said that the League would be improved, this year, and still do. Consider Monmouth's win at PP a shot across Iona's bow, as to which team is the Top Dog. Now the Hawks have to go against USC, tonight. What makes Monmouth's win noteworthy is that they shot 24% from three and were out rebounded, 37-60. Other games: *Thought that Siena showed poise in their game, and were not intimidated by the Crazies. Duke made the same mistake as Iona seems to do when we play the Saints, and that is forgetting that Lavon Long is a lefty. And that's another reason why I'm looking forward to EJ Crawford. Siena seems solid at all positions, with the exception of OG. If Clareth or Oliver improve they should be tough. They do have a problem on defense. Duke scored 92 points, shooting 24% from three. And they had open looks. Also think that Siena should have tried playing at a slower pace. But if I were a Siena fan, I'd feel pretty good about the team. *Guys I knew nothing about, did well. Malcolm McMillan, a senior transfer at Canisius, had 33 points. Anton Portley a 6'4 frosh at SPU had 30 points, and Matt Scott, soph at Niagara, had 19 and eight boards. *Quinny lost by 12 and shot 14-33 from the foul line. Other bad news was FF not having a single double figure scorer. *Rider stayed with Princeton for the most part. And that's a team that reportedly handled Iona in a scrimmage.
Bottom line, imo, the League did pretty wellpretty well? 2-7?. What would you consider a so-so night, 0-9?
Ic59, I think he was referring to your satisfaction with the 2-7 night--and I agree with him. Tough games on the slate for sure, with most on the road, but 4-5 was doable. Hopefully the maac has much better days ahead.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.

Yes, Guy correct.
I would expect losses to Duke and Ucla. Possibly a split with Old Dominion and Hofstra. But the 5 games against NEC, Patriot and IVY, should take 3 or 4 of those. So, 5-4 or 4-5 would be what I would consider doing pretty well. Marist has become a joke, but expected. Fairfield getting pounded was NOT expected. The bottom of the Maac is really bad.

Based on one night I agree. We all expect Marist will stink. But we have to beat these teams, although Yale and Princeton are probably the top 3 Ivies with Columbia.
McMillan, for Canisius, followed up his 33 point opener, with 31, tonight, in the Griffs' win over Lehigh. Looks like the real deal. Monmouth down one to USC with 15 to go (57-58) and Manhattan down 15 to the Gaels, early in the second half.
Monmouth dropped a tough 101-90 loss to USC. The one guy who has not played well is Oklahoma transfer, Hornbeak, who is taking time to fit in. If he does, the Hawks will be very tough. Robinson was the high scorer with 28 points. And the Jaspers fell by 26 (I believe) to the Gaels (I like saying that). Stores and Usilo still not playing.
Friday was a good night for the MAAC, with a home win for the Gaels, a neutral court win for the Saints (Radford) and a tough away loss for the Broncs to highly ranked, Maryland.
Guy, your analysis leaves a lot to be desired. Iona's RPI (37) proves that early RPI's are meaningless. Unless, you think that Iona is about the 37th best team in the country?I still say that the top half of the MAAC will be competitive, but understand that the bottom half will be a drag on the Conference's rank.

Actually, what leaves a lot to be desired is your reading ability, as my post offered no form of analysis whatsoever. If you're referring to "hideous", that is actually a statement of fact, as 25 is hideous whether in November or February.
No, I think I read it correctly. If you had only listed the MAAC's rating your point would have been made. But, as they say in the movies, you made one point too many.
