Let's see how team responds to opening game jitters. I expect a better showing against the Beavers. They are no Valpo.

chelsea, a better showing? You're setting a pretty low bar.

ichoops might be correct for the first time ever. He said tomorrow night's game will be a 30 point loss or less than 30 points or more than 30 points. So I guess if it's 31 points less than 30 points, then Iona wins by one. He's a genius.

Wayne Tinkle is a heck of a coach and his team will be prepared. Gary Payton's son is on this team. Game is on the Pac12 Network @ 7pst.
The Gaels just need to fuggeta bout The Valpo game and come out focused, ready to run.

I feel the key to success in the future for this team will be to aggressively attack the rim and draw contact or kick to the open shooters on the perimeter. Being tentative or hesitant will not be an option if the team is to have success. The free throw rate will be key against Oregon State if the 3's are not falling. I expect to see more pressure defense by Iona in an attempt to slow transition and create turnovers moving forward to create the tempo Iona wants/needs. This group now needs leadership from AJ and Isaiah to come together as a collective and execute the game plan. Iona will need to move the ball through the air more quickly to create the spacing and open shots needed to get their rhythm. The assists to turnovers against Valpo was not good at 12 assists to 17 turnovers. The success of the team in the past has been the unselfish sharing of the ball vs just launching shots. Additionally, the free throw attempt discrepancy of 36 for Valpo vs 18 for Iona is unacceptable. Hopefully Iona will be more aggressive and the refs will make the contact calls creating more free throw opportunities. With Coach Cluess the perception of a lack of hustle on transition defense will quickly buy time on the pine this game. Rotating bodies in and out of the game might be key tomorrow night to maintain fresh legs for pressuring Oregon State. Maintaining a faster tempo all game will be needed for a win. Not expecting a repeat of Valpo. GO GAELS!
